I received this unit with firmware version 2.00. The unit would not heat correctly at 9 and 12 volts regardless if from a PD source or DC. At 12v after 2-minutes it was hardly above 200 C. I noticed a firmware update to V2.01 was available. Updated the firmware and now it appears to work correctly on lower voltages. When going to the website make sure you include the ".cn" after ".com" otherwise you will end up on some other company's website. Had a little trouble getting my laptop, with a USB-C connection to recognize the TS101 as a USB drive. That is required to copy over the ".hex" file from the pc to TS101. It eventually worked to update the firmware. You have to go to the fourm to find the firmware.
Besides the fast heat-up and temperature control I love the way to configure it using a text editor. :) As a hobbyist I use it at least twice a week. When in remote locations it is connected to a 12000mAh power bank. Perfect.
The TS100 is an excellent little soldering iron and performs very well. This iron heats up lightning fast, works extremely well, and has a nice suite of features available through the onboard software and OLED display. User interface consists of two buttons, A and B, and the operation and menu system is relatively intuitive. The instructions provided were not 100% accurate, but the instruction version shows 1.1 and the out-of-the-box software version installed on the TS100 was version 2.18. The instructions provided a good foundation and I was able to easily figure out the rest with a little trial and error. Although I have not tried it out myself yet, I understand there is also third-party software available for the TS100 which provides some additional features.
The provided Allen key for the 1.5mm hex head screws on the body of the TS100 was rather tight and did not work all that well, but I recommend picking up a MIP 1.5mm hex driver to solve this issue (for clarity, the included hex key does work, just not as well as a nice 1.5mm hex driver).
UY CHAN did a nice job with this bundle. Reading some other reviews, it appears some people received a 19V 3A power supply, and others a 24V 3A power supply; I received the 24V 3A power supply. Perhaps UY CHAN has recently updated the included power supply to the 24V model. Some people were complaining that the power cord for the power supply is too short. It is, in fact, only about 2-2.5 feet (~0.7m) in length, but you can pick up a 6 or 10 foot (2-3m) laptop power cord for cheap if you need the extra length. That having been said, the overall length of the power supply and power cord is probably close to 6 feet (2m); I found this to be sufficient for my needs. The stand works well, although some may want to put some sort of rubber base or feet on it to keep it from sliding around on a hard surface. The sponge provided with the stand is about 1mm thick and I doubt would work all that well, but I believe most of us are using a dry tip cleaner these days; those who aren't probably already have a much better sponge tip cleaner. I haven't yet used the LiPo power cable with the XT60 connector or the grounding cable, but both are of decent quality and I have no doubts they would do the job.
Overall I am very satisfied with this TS100 bundle from UY CHAN and would highly recommend it for your soldering needs.
I'm super impressed with this thing. It heats up extremely quickly, stores different temperature profiles, and is really a nice size in the hand to get more precise with soldering. I wish the cable was a little longer, but that's not a dealbreaker.
I have been using this almost a month now pretty much every day. Initially i used the power adapter came with the package, cable is not as flexible as you would want to use it in hand like a pencil. Also has that magnet things at the end makes it heavier at the end. Later i purchased a noname 106W usbc charger, which is also sold with another package here, usage wise a lot easier and handling is very good, but recently i noticed it randomly reboots itself or turns off heating while using it.
For context, I have soldered for almost fifteen years for school, personal projects, and for a summer job, but I am not a soldering iron connoisseur.
I received this soldering iron as a Christmas gift to replace my 14-year old, no-brand, 25W soldering iron that was somehow still better than the entry level Wellers I tried using. The tip that came with the soldering iron has been great so far for the general purpose soldering I have been doing. My favorite feature of the soldering iron is just how fast it heats up. Most soldering irons I have use have not had temperature control, so I would plug them in as soon as I started working on a project so they would be ready 5-10min later when I needed it. With this iron, I wait until the exact moment I am ready to solder the first time, fire it up, and then use it 10 seconds later.
My only complaint is that due to the small size and weight of the iron (which, in general, is a feature), the power cable feels more cumbersome than the cable on a full sized iron. A more flexible power cable would fix this, but I don't consider it worth deducting a whole star.
This was a great purchase, heats up quick with the included plug and when using with a power delivery charger. Didn't have any problem with doing soldering jobs with it and it's a great size for carrying around in your kit.
Gears up way faster and far more consistently than the cheap soldering iron I had before. Haven't even bothered putting custom firmware on it as it works great out of the box.
I solder mostly keyboard PCB components and keyboard switches. This little guy is great if you're on the go at keyboard conventions or making a sale in-person and something goes wrong. Bring a battery pack with you and you're ready for business. Keep in mind, your battery pack has to be able to output Qualcomm PD 3.0, at around 60W or so. I use an imuto 20,000 mAH external battery, and it works stock; no need for IronOS flashing.
The included cable and stand is nice, but ultimately unnecessary. The cable itself is far too bulky compared to the actual size of the soldering iron, and the stand cannot keep the iron from rolling around. Actually, I find that just putting the plastic ring stand included in this kit does a far better job of keeping my iron from accidentally touching and burning things that it shouldn't than the stand. I've knocked over the iron a few times while on the actual stand.
I was looking for simple soldering iron to replace a cheap one I had that came in a soldering kit for 30$ on amazon. That one died after using it a third time. Therefore, I decided to invest in a decent soldering iron and this one was highly recommended online. I most use a soldering iron to build keyboards and fix small tech.
The packaging was pretty nice and it came in 2 box. One containing the soldering iron and the tip. The second had various cable use to power the iron (wall plug and usb c). It felt small, but honestly, I love this size now.
The UI is very easy to navigate. Click on the first button and then hold to enable temperature adjustment. It starts at 300C. This soldering iron heats up very quickly and holds it's temp well.
You can easily find tips around 15$ on amazon which is awesome!
Overall, I understand now why soo many people praise the TS100. For average consumers, this is the go-to soldering iron. There is the TS80 but it is not as powerful and it is more expensive on Amazon. Highly recommended for tech and keyboard enthusiasts!
Arrived quickly. Likely this one is already not STM32 chip: GD32F103 likely in my particular case. To whom are interested to use "Ralim" firmware. For programming have to use a MicroUSB DATA cable (just charging the cable might not work). To whom just need to use it as solder: wonderful product!!! With B2 tip succeed in soldering not so miniature points. More than enough exist options in the menu. Standby & sleep modes are EXCELLENT!!! Very happy. Another bonus: as per conversation with the seller, they are providing 1 year of warranty and that's great in my opinion. Power supply 24v 3A. Can give to the seller 5* for communication and the product!!!
5.0 out of 5 stars
