I also appreciate that Ubiquity has been very fast with firmware updates for disclosed security vulnerabilities.
That said my experience is that getting it set up can be a little frustrating so I'm going to share what I had to do.
The big thing is that getting the APs to provision while plugged into the router doesn't seem to work. (Also you need to the get the Unifi Controller and install it on a computer...which isn't stated as clearly as it might be in the documentation) This caused me a lot of frustration because there wasn't any reason it shouldn't work except that it didn't work. Computers. Right?
SO! Once you install the controller and create an account just take the POE injector that comes with the AP and hook the AP through it directly to the computer. Then wait. Forever. Nah. It's not that long but you will probably want something there to distract you because otherwise it can feel like it just isn't going to happen. Eventually the AP will pop up in the devices tab and you can upgrade it and wait. Then adopt it and wait. And though it takes a half hour to finish (I hope it takes less for you!) the AP will be recognized by the Unifi Controller.
Repeat however many times you have to for all the APs you need and then hook them to the configured Router and they will join the network without any further complaint.
I suspect that if you actually know what you are doing there is a way around all of this but if you are savvy enough to think this is a good idea but not a Tech professional then hopefully this will at least save you some headaches.
User guide is OK, but you'll find more info in the user forums.
This is at the edge of a big home network I have for a client - over 50 devices in the house, streaming music, streaming video to multiple TV's from multiple sources all over the home, multiple WIFI AP's, IP cameras and NVR, etc... Handles it all without a hitch. QOS is easy to setup too - keeps everyone happy in the house :-)
