Wished for More Authenticity

I'm an Assassin's Creed fanatic. My wife purchased this for me for Christmas. The details on the piece are phenomenal. However, the "bracer" itself isn't kind for larger forearms (If I flex the Velcro fasteners will loosen), and the plastic it is produced with is a very flimsy polymer. You can't use the "arrow" bolt most of the time because it warps so badly it will not slide freely in the device.

The springs and loading mechanisms are very "new age" covered by decorations to make it "look" classic. It feels very cheap and not enough to validate the price paid. I was disappointed after opening the package and getting to use the item. This is certainly more for "looks" than use. I would have preferred splintery wood and jagged metal that had no moving parts if it appeared more "realistic".

If it's for a kid, perhaps it would be okay. However, I find a game like "Assassin's Creed" geared more toward mature audiences, which I would hope the merchandise would be as well.

I had very high hopes for this product and bought it as part of a costume for Halloween, unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations. For the purposes of my own costume, it didn't work at all and I only ended up wearing it maybe a half hour. The entire time it was bulky, uncomfortable, slid down too far or up too high, and unloaded prematurely.

Cons:
- It is very bulky! I am a stocky woman and wasn't expecting this to be a problem, but the item was so bulky it made it unusable. It comes in two pieces, a bracer that fits along the inside of the arm and another piece to which the weapon is attached. When placed together the item sticks out quite a ways and it was difficult for me to cinch it tight enough to where it wouldn't slide around by myself.
- As others have noted, the trigger for the blade is very sensitive and goes off all the time with even the slightest bump. The button is poorly placed and even taping the blade down didn't completely solve this problem.
- The button to the crossbow, on the other hand, could have been more sensitive, but instead took several pushes and twists to get it to open.
- The bolt for the crossbow is very flimsy and came slightly bowed out of the box, requiring more force to place it in the slot and get it to click into place and also affecting the way it shot.

Pros:
- It is authentic looking and well "aged". The detail is very well done and even though there is no real wood or leather on the piece, the grain is realistic enough for a model.
- It feels and looks cool. Even though this didn't work out to wear, the idea is neat and it definitely became a topic piece at our Halloween party.

While I wouldn't recommend this as part of a costume unless you are a big man with long arms (but not particularly thick forearms, because it doesn't seem to cinch very wide) or unless you modify it yourself, as a piece to sit around as decor or as part of a collection it is a very nice addition. It sits on my shelf now, looking pretty interesting beside a few other display items.

My son loved it! I know it says it's not for children but I got it anyway. :X
It is made of some sort of plastic and it is very detailed. My son doesn't know anything about this game because he isn't old enough for it but I thought it would be a great gift that is very unique. We had a hard time with the arrow sliding in and staying there, this must have been a factory error as the clip where you slide it in to hold the arrow wasn't there. I think there's no way to harm anyone with it unless... I guess if the kid would point it at someones eye! He was 8 years old when I got it and it just barely fit his arm but not very snug though. He is the tallest kid in his class so a child that is rather small it would probably not fit well. Anyway I recommend 9+ if you think your child is cautious where they point things. It fits him much better now that he's older and it has held up pretty good.

My son was so excited when this arrived. Full disclosure, we had to return the first one sent to us because some of the accessories were not working properly. We exchanged it and the parts that are supposed to clip into place and the ones that are supposed to shoot projectiles are working perfectly. The details in the design exceed what I expected. I do not think that this is appropriate for younger children because of the things that shoot out of it. But teens who love video games would really enjoy it and know how to use it safely.

Very impressed by the detailing of the entire thing. The blade comes out nicely, the crossbow requires a firmer button push than anything else. Wish it came with more darts. The darts are not balanced and tend to start to flip when launched. The darts also only go a couple feet.
I also found that after a lot of uses of the hidden blade won't lock away anymore. If that does happen, tighten the back two screws and it should be fixed. If it doesn't just keep tightening the screws.

Got it for his Halloween costume. Surprising how nice the construction is - almost feels like firm leather even though it is not. Blade is pointy but very flexible and not sharp on the edges. The crossbow component is nice looking but only shoots the arrow a few feet (although that is also a good thing). All in all it is a nice product and my son loves it. I rate this five stars.

In general the item is okay, looks quite good in photos so I would recommend if you want to use it for cosplay. It however feels like cheap plastic. The plastic hidden blade was slighted bent when I got mine. Maybe it is for safety reasons so they did not use very hard plastic. I also had an issue with one of the wrist strap. The two straps are the same so they won't stick....I did not want to return it just for that so I fixed it myself. Not sure if it is just a product defect or design issue. Overall if you are a AC fan it is not a bad buy.

As a die hard assassins creed fan I can confidently say I am more than satisfied. The attention to detail is great and it seems to be very strong an sturdy! Very easy to set up and fits about any forearm size. It arrived on time and in perfect condition. I highly recommend this to any AC fan, or any person who wants a very nice prop. Fair warning: It does not shoot very far, but other than that, very great product.
