Oh come on. I just got this game today, and from what I've played so far, there isn't ENOUGH religious conflict in the game. I was disappointed -- it seems like Ubisoft was afraid they might offend people by including religioun too heavily in the game, so they decided to edit it down. That ticks me off. I love history, and this period was defined by the religious conflict, which is noticeably absent here. Characters in this game say they fight for "peace".

YES!!! What good have religions done? NOTHING!!! I'm pointing at you Christianity/Catholicism!!! Maybe a few food banks here and there, but then, does that even start to make up for the Crusades? Overzealousness? You'll be damned if you don't believe in God! says the crazy priest. It's all BS.
Sorry, I get overexcited.

the only complete fool around here is you... your stats means nothing because you are comparing muslims( people who practice islam) and not islam itself... you say that "muslims believe that killing ppl other religions (as it clearly states in the quran)" that's absolutely incorrect because i can get the same amount of quotes from the bible (without any context) that says the exact same thing and even worse... so you you are telling me that everyone who is a christian truly follows the bible?.. look... i would like you discuss it with you even future but first go educate yourself... don't buy a quran that was translated by an atheist guy... talk to other muslims and scholars, to get their opinions, before you jump into conclusions... for once, open up your mind.... good luck

John Allan says:
Correct me if I'm wrong, but did he not say 1/10 of Muslims believe that? That's a relatively small number. I believe I could find just as many people of my own religion(Christianity) who condone the murder of non-Christians. Radicals and other overzealous people use religion as a weapon. Religion is not the problem. Human nature is the problem; religion is just a scapegoat. There will be still be evil, even without religion. Evil lies in the hearts of men(and women). Peace is impossible. We just have to find a way to live with ourselves.

As for the game.. It's a game, lol. Get over it. The game isn't anti-American or pro-Islamic. If you had played all of it, you'd know that.

OK you're really an idiot. We can't make up for our mistakes from a hundred years ago. Besides they are yours too regardless of your religious status. You got to look at what we are facing now today with the radical sect in every religion. You should read up on your history and maybe do something other then bitch and complain about these damn video games. I'm talking to everyone. Its a damn game nothing more, nothing less. If you don't like the game take it back to the store and trade it in for another game. I am tired of people complaining about stupid stuff like this when i am sitting on the edge of Kuwait getting ready to go in.

Having actually taken a Crusades History class, the game really misrepresents the Assassins. Yes they were technically Islamic, but from what I've read the Old Man of the Mountain (yeah that was actually the Anglocized version of their leader's name) had all of his assassin's hyped up on medieval hallucinogens (imagine stealthy hippies with knives). Apparently they tried to extort money from both the Christians and Muslims (neither of which are one giant homogeneous group by the way). If whoever was being threatened didn't pay up, an assassin would go kill them. This sort of all backfired horribly when the underappreciated Mongols took over the majority of EurAsia. Apparently the Assassin's killed one of Genghis Khan's sons (or maybe close advisors) and Khan unleased the fury of the largest empire to ever exist in recorded history on the mountain home of the Assassins.

While this is a humorous explanation of my memory of a graduate class I took a couple years ago I think it's fairly accurate. The point is that by using an Assassin as a main character, Ubi-Soft isn't pro Muslim/Anti-Christian.

J. Flanagan says:
The middle east was christian before the muslim jihads. Pope Urban most likely did not truly belive muslims to be demon worshipers, but in the same way that leaders in the past have used characteristics of other races to bring their people into conflict, he probably planned upon using religion to bring the middle east back into christian hands. I am not claiming that this is justification for the atrocities at the hands of either side during the crusades, but it puts the conflict into perspective. Ubisoft most likely is not anti christian, but we live in an age where doing a single thing to insult muslims over christians can get CAIR sueing you, or protest by muslims in the streets of the middle east.

Also, more people have died at the command of athiests than have ever been killed by religious confilt such as the Jihads or Crudades, and the religious programs such as the salem witch trials and the Spanish Inquisition. Hitler, Stalin, and Mao just to name a few, murdered millions of their own people. All of them were Athiests.

The Assasins were a muslim sec that left Egypt following the naming of a new Caliph that was hostile to them, the fled to Syria where the caused constant problems for the Seljuk Turks by assasinating their leaders. The worked with the Crusaders during the crusades, and were destroyed by the mongols hordes.

Even with all this I wonder why you care, you kill Crusaders, and Saracens in the goal of establishing peace in the region. I also have to say the game would have been so much cooler had it only been based in the past, and didn't have that amazingly stupid back story in which DNA has genetic "memories" stored on it. The whole Knights Templar controling the world thing has been so overused in the past few years, that even though I loved the climbing walls and fighting the guards in the streets, I loathed having to go back to the present where you walked slowly around not truly being able to do much of anything other than here lame fake science and deal with a truly non eventful back story.

Nothing great about Islam .. they invaded peaceful countries like India and destroyed their culture, religion

Muslims have not invaded India. I'm going to take a leap here and say you are from India and you just hate Muslims because of the conflict with Pakistan.

foodbanks? what about universities, hospitals, basic code of law for western civilization, basic system of education, not to mention that the Crusades were counter attack. the muslims had invaded spain and southern france about 300 years earlier and at the time of crusade were invading Turkey to conquer the Greek Orthodox(Christians by the way) Empire. Turkey was NOT their land, Spain was NOT their land, and neither was France. The Holy Land also was not muslim land, they took it by force in the 700s and the Christians were their before them (The PAGAN Romans had exiled the Jews from there. after the Fall of Rome they were welcome to return. so if you actually take a minute to learn history you will see that the Christians were in the right. abuse of that right did occur and it was sinful of course. but every power has its trouble makers.

Hitler wasn't an atheist, he called himself a Christian - he claimed himself to be fighting against atheism.

yeah ~ probably ~ Muslims have all the terrorists & oil money ~ so ~ it's no wonder Ubi-soft
is playin' it safe :)
The Quran:

Quran (2:191-193) - "And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution [of Muslims] is worse than slaughter [of non-believers]... but if they desist, then lo! Allah is forgiving and merciful. And fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is for Allah."
