This item works like a charm to give me an extension of my game time on my days off. Installation is very easy and does the job perfectly. However, the box does not give instruction on how to use it. This works for me:

1) Keep the Uboost off while you play the game.
2) Once the WiiU gamepad's battery start to run off. Turn on Uboost. It will start recharging the gamepad's battery.

I have the Deluxe Wii u and this works with the cradle and it charges both batteries at the same time.

I purchased this because I play "hyrule warriors" a LOT and my play sessions stretch into the long and late hours frequently. The stock gamepad battery only lasts 2-3 hours tops under normal use.

When you add this lightweight battery pack to the gamepad and activate it when the gamepad starts to die, it charges it completely. The result is doubling your playtime without having to plug in the gamepad.

There is a minor heat dissipation from the battery pack when u activate it, but it isn't what I would call "hot.

The battery pack charges seemlessly on the cradle. It actually contacts the charging dock instead of the gamepad, but allows the charge to pass through so both battery pack, and gamepad charge simultaneously.

I have used this maybe a few times a week for the last several months to extend playing tim, and can't imagine giving it up. The stock gamepad battery is pretty pathetic, and this fixes that issue. I suppose if your really hardcore you could even buy 2 and swap the dead pack out for a fresh one while you keep playing ,thus giving the gamepad an infinite battery life.

Great product. Adds a ton of battery like to the Wii U gamepad and like half or a 1/3 the coast of the high capacity battery Nintendo sells. It can charge just by placing on the dock, just like the gamepad. It does add some weight to an already large controller. My original one last about a year & a half before the battery stopped holding a charge.

If you play even occasionally, you know the WiiU's gamepad has an annoyingly short battery life. Well, this device addresses the problem nicely, is pretty affordable, and extremely easy to install. When your Gamepad low battery light comes on, you turn on the Uboost and you're good for at least a few more hours.
Some people have said it's heavy, but I haven't found that to be much of an issue...I use the Uboost's built in stand to help stand it on my leg when I'm sitting down, with the Gamepad in my lap- works nicely.
Obviously pretty much everyone would have preferred that Nintendo included a decent battery in the Gamepad in the first place, but this is the next best thing (unless you want to pay nearly twice the price for Nintendo's upgraded battery), I have no complaints with the Uboost so far, and I'm someone who very rarely buys extra accessories.

For the final year or so I'll be making regular use of my Wii U, I might as well enjoy it with a much better battery life.
It makes the gamepad slightly heavier, which is expected, but at least I can play games for more than two hours without having to have it tethered to an outlet.

It works for a little bit but not as much as I was hoping. It contains only a single 1000mah cell even though it looks like it holds two of them. The standard battery in the Wii U controller is 1500mah so this does not have enough to fully re-charge it. Ultimately you would be better off buying an official 2500mah battery for the controller instead of using this.

Pros:
-Does it's intended job: Extends the battery of your WiiU Game Pad, allowing for longer play sessions.
-Easy Installation
-Although I haven't needed to, it has a tiny button on the back in case you need to Resync. It's situated that it's hard to press accidentally during play, but easy to press if you need to (a small object like a toothpick or paperclip.)
-Does not use a separate charger, it can use the standard WiiU Gamepad Docking Station or Charging Cable. It also will charge the Gamepad as well when plugged in.
-Due to being an external battery pack, it can be combined with a higher-capacity battery for even longer gaming sessions.
-Has a slide-out stand on the back so that you can place the Gamepad on a flat surface and see the screen.

Cons:
-It may get a little warm during usage, unsure if it's just mine or common.
-The instructions could stand to describe the product a bit more.

Neutral/Notes:
-It adds some weight to the Gamepad. This wasn't an issue for anyone in my family, but it may bother some people.
-When your internal battery starts to run low, you need to activate the battery pack manually. It will show a orange light and start charging the Gamepad.
-The slide-out stand on the back doesn't fall loose nor does it slide around when you have it set up. On the flipside, it takes a little effort to pull the slide out, and is somewhat noisy.

Makes gamepad awkwardly heavy and bulky. Didn't come with instructions on how to charge or use. I looked online and saw that you let the gamepad run out (resulting in pad shutting down), then u press the power button on the uboost extending gameplay. I charged both ways , which was through cradle and directly plugging in and the boost gave me one additional hour. I must have got a defective one,but thinking how what u have to do to use it is not acceptable to me. I returned and got a refund. I am disappointed I have to spend addl $ to by maybe a better internal battery. We will see. I think this was nintendo plan. Boo!

Despite this rating I will make this a non aggresive review as I was refunded immediatlely after reporting the problem. I charged the Wii U gamepad and Uboost at the same time with the charging cable being in the Uboost. Then I played the Wii U and tried charging the gamepad but it just wouldn't work even on low battery. Looking at other reviews there's a 50/50 chance the one you buy will work so you're better off buying a portable battery and a usb charger for your gamepad.

Todas las reseñas indicaban que este producto te triplicaba la vida del gamepad del Wii U, y eso es muy cierto.
La recomendación clásica es que tengas el Uboost cargado al tope y lo mantengas apagado mientras estás jugando.
Cuando el gamepad indique que trae la batería baja, lo enciendes y a la hora y media termina de recargar el gamepad para nuevamente repetir el proceso una segunda vez. Una cosa así me pasaba.
Lo que descubrí con este accesorio es que el encanto en realidad dura poco, porque a los 3 o 6 meses algo le pasa a la batería que simplemente deja de funcionar correctamente y ya solo almacena algo así como el 10% de carga original.
Llegué a comprar 2 de estas piezas en tiempos diferentes. Uno el año pasado y otro este año, pensando que el primero vino con algún defecto de fábrica, pero me equivoqué.

Recomendación:
Si son de las personas que quieren que la batería del gamepad les dure horas y horas, mejor comprense la batería oficial de alta capacidad.
Es más cara que este producto, pero esa de verdad que les va a rendir.

Junto la batería del gamepad tienes bastantes horas de juego, también tiene pará enchufar el cargador del gamepad por el lado.Justo a los 2 años se fastidiaron las baterías y no aguanta ni 2 minutos, ya podrían aguantar algo más ya que sólo juego al fin de semana y no todos puedo jugar
