From the Author
The thriller uses unusual heroes, young adults with Down syndrome and an unseen creature that uses mind control to catch it's prey. How these two come together and battle is an intresting tale.
From the Inside Flap
Glenn Oliver Parkhurst, author of Bled Out, takes his audience along on another gripping tale. He has used the mountains of Salt Lake City as the setting for this tale. The steep rocky trails, hiked often by Glenn, became the perfect place for this gripping thriller pitting man against monster. Follow Glenn on Twitter @oliverphurst and Facebook. I appreciated the back story in which Native Americans encountered The Ulasiga hundreds of years before our present tale begins.
Parkhurst has created a brilliant melding of horror/thriller that will pull at your heartstrings just as hard.
A somewhat shorter book, The Ulasiga is just right. Everything that needs to be her is here. All the surplus has been trimmed away to yield a sleek result. This is a must for all you constant readers.
Be sure to buy the new Parkhurst book. Love and Laughter.
I started the novel with a concern that this was going to be too much science fiction; of which I am not a fan. I was surprised to find a little horror, a little science fiction and a lot of adventure and mystery. The author paints a very clear picture of the heros in this story with realistic descriptions and personality developements.
The writers imagination took me to the forest, a grocery store and inside a cave. I felt sadness and joy along with the characters and especially cringed for Justin. I actually found myself smiling with the children Davy connected with. I also found myself cheering for Davy and Roberta as they struggled with everyday tasks.
Thank you Mr. Parkhurst for an incredible read.
I look forward to reading future books from this author
Davy likes to hike and frequently hikes the local trails with his maps, backpack and survival supplies. On one such walk, he ventures into a cave where the Ulaslga lives. The creature implants suggestions into Davies brain to bring more food to it. Davy can sense hurt in children and can send signals that "tickle" them.
The story is well though out as the plot develops nicely, not too slow, not too fast. The characters are believable and Mr. Parkhurst has done his research about Down Syndrome. The characters were pleasant, the surroundings detailed (guess it must be all that hiking that Glenn does in Utah, and it is well done!
I read the book in two sittings. WTG Glenn!
I cringed with Justin and shared his pain as he endured beatings and unrelenting abuse by his mother. I loved and greatly admired Davy and Roberta! Glenn skillfully described their physical appearances and personal characteristics, as well as the challenges of their daily lives. I loved their humor, frank communication, and social interactions!
Davy and Roberta demonstrated their love of life, for each other, and for those who face unfair trials. Love, a sense of purpose and belonging, determination and commitment guided them. -Basic desires shared by mankind.
Thank you, Glenn, for another great read! I will be looking forward to your next novel!
