Judge David Johnson, DVD Verdict-- I think we can officially classify Discovery's Shark Week a pop culture phenomenon. And why shouldn't it be? It's a great examination of the sound and the fury of nature's premiere killing machine. Producers decide to cowboy up with Shark Week: Restless Fury, adding to the already established excellence of crazy guys swimming with sharks in nothing but a wetsuit and disturbingly intimate camera angles.

This go-round you've got those same crazy wetsuit guys swimming around with the sharks and also feeding a video camera to a Great White! I suppose there's some scientific purpose of having a POV shot from a shark's jawline, but mainly it just looks super awesome with all that teeth and stuff.

Six episodes over two discs:

Disc One
* "Into the Shark Bite"
Our heroes risk their extremities by trying to induce the sharks to gobble up video cameras. Sounds like a sound trade-off from where I stand!

* "Ultimate Air Jaws"
What is it like watching a Great White Shark flying through the air with a seal in his mouth, shot at 1,000 frames per second? Pretty much, that, a huge slow-motion shark in mid-air, which is awesome.

* "Day of the Shark III"
Real stories from shark attack survivors. Yikes.

* "Shark Attack Survival Guide"
Learn how to survive a terrifying shark assault from former Special Forces soldier Terry Schappert who, frankly, is far more terrifying. If Terry Schappert could teach me how to survive an attack from Terry Schappert--now that would let me sleep better at night.

* "Sharkbite Beach"
Time for some more recreations of shark attacks, with the 2008 incidents on the California coast the source of the nightmarish dramatizations.

The one thing I've learned through buying ANYTHING produced by the Discovery channel is that they have a tendency to replicate their DVDs under another name. Most (if not all) of this boxed set is already part of their Shark Week DVD sets. For that reason, I can't give it a more positive rating. The buyer is under the assumption that this is new footage when it clearly isn't. It's all old, recycled segments sold under a different name. Caveat emptor (let the buyer beware).

Good TV show to stream before going to bed. Image quality is good to awesome. The dialog is some time to catchy. They make it sound like some one could die at any minute of the show. :) The repeat and resume the action to many time. They could cut the talking by 20%.

But I like shark

My younger kids wanted to learn some additional things about sharks. So my wife and I found this. We were expecting the typical information about shark size, biting power and hunting abilities. But these these shows went a lot further and deeper into understanding creatures that have been around for millions of years. Truly impressive shows and they taught me some newer things that even I didn't know and I did book reports on sharks back in high school. Very impressive new research. God bless the brave men and women who helped find this information out.

One is lured into the shows like a fish on a hook; however, each show has the same message: sharks are misunderstood, beautiful creatures that are no threat to us. The shark is not to blame for the few people that are actually hurt by them. We humans are to blame if a shark wounds or kills us. We should not look like seals, swim in their territory, or urinate in the water.

Only the Air Jaws episode worh the BD. Several filming on slow motion that makes you see amazing details.
I liked very much of Chris Falows work, and the others episodes are great too.

I bought this for my young (8 year old) nephew who is fascinated by sharks. (No sharks here in East Tennessee.) He and I watched this together over a few days, and had a very good time.
