This is a wonderful short-cut cookie recipe book--even better than an ordinary cookie book. The recipes are easy to follow and don't require a lot of ingredients (one of my requirements). It tells you right at the title what flavor cake mix to use. I was surprised to find so many recipes I can't wait to make. There will be more than one recipe for any type of cookie you'll want to make. Tropical cookies are particularly nice. No pictures except on the covers, but the name and description tells it all. If you love cookies, this book is for you. If you like short-cut recipes, this book is for you. If you're searching for a particular cookie recipe, bet you'll find it here. It's true--this is the ultimate cookie book! The fact that it is made with a cake mix is an extra bonus.

I love this book because it has basic to advanced recipes in here that taste really good and it doesn't take as much time gathering all the ingredients. I use recipes from this books for bake sales and special events. Nobody ever knows the cookies were started from cake mix! I have a few of Camilla Saulsbury's books and this one is a wonderful addition to my collection.

I overlooked the reviews that said this book needed pictures (it does, there are none). But I thought I could get by with the table of contents. I expected to see the cookies listed by types: for instance: Chocolate Cookies, Oatmeal Cookies, Fruit Cookies - at least a few different major categories. But nooooooooo! You know what the table of contents shows? (1) Drop Cookies (2) Bar Cookies (3) Formed and Filled Cookies

That's it! That's the only "navigation" thought a 389 page book! I'm thinking of returning it and finding something with a little better "roadmap" to it, so I don't have to go through every flippin' (no pun intended) page! This is so, so bad!

I bake from scratch. Have other books by this author so I took a chance.

Recipes in here saved me this holiday season when I had physical problems and an acute lack of time. I chose recipes carefully and was very skeptical when I popped them into the oven, opting for bar cookies in large pans. People raved about them and - just as in the cliche - nobody believed I had used a cake mix. The ones I made froze well.

There is a big big problem but it is easily solved. Canadian cake mixes are not as big as US cake mixes. I did a rough conversion and just added a couple tablespoons of flour and all was well.
