I'd been looking for a 'Best of' CD for Grace Jones for a while, and then came across this EXCELLENT collection. I suppose Ms. Jones is one of those 'love-em-or-hate-em' types of artists......well, count me on the 'LOVE her' side! This beautifully designed and laid out CD package hold 3 discs that highlight much of her musical journey through the decades since she burst onto the Disco scene in the 1970's. The tracks are remastered, sounding dynamic while clearly focusing on her vocals. I was fortunate enough to finally get to see her in concert a couple of years ago, and she's STILL burning up the stage with her gutsy vocals, stunning stage presence, and wildly creative scenic and costume styles! So glad to have her back on my 'turntable', so to speak.

GRACE JONES THE ULTIMATE COLLECTION is a great 3-cd set for die-hard Grace fans. Although all of the material has been previously released, the 32-bit remastering is what makes this collection worth the price.
The first cd covers the 70s (and part of the 80s) and include "La Vie En Rose" and "I Need A Man." Both songs remastered and in their entirety and sound fantastic! Also on cd #1 "Do Or Die" and "Fame" among others, which have not been released on remastered compilations like Private Life: The Compass Point Sessions .
CD #2 covers the 80s and includes "I'm Not Perfect," "Victor Should Have Been A Jazz Musician," and "Love On Top Of Love"--again not available on previous compilations.
CD #3 is compiled from various cuts from Private Life: The Compass Point Sessions with the exception of "Sex Drive" that was released as a single.
Great set for fans who are familiar with Jones's work and want remastered tracks, but for the uninitiated I would suggest Island Life . That compliation has most of Grace's standards and is much cheaper. It'll give you a taste without breaking the bank.
Also included, small booklet with Jones bio and description/info of albums and tracks. (GRACE JONES THE ULTIMATE COLLECTION is made by Universal Music which also did Donna Summer: The Ultimate Collection )

Excellent collection of songs spanning the "musical" career of Grace Jones. Grace isn't really a singer, but she is a true entertainer, and her music is really wonderful in it's own quirky way. The third disc "bonus" really makes the collection, especially the Slave to the Rhythm remix.

Her style may not be to everyone's liking, but most agree there is no one quite Her Grace. Visually and sonically, she is one of a kind and I'm proud to have been able to follow her career from the early days, "Fame", "Portfolio" all the way to "Hurricane". My one remaining wish is that they put her finest work, 'Muse' on to CD. I'm totally amazed this hasn't yet happened. Until then, I remain a .... "Slave to the Rhythm"!!

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN: MISS GRACE JONES" There is no other way to describe this living creature of image, theatrics, and rhythm. I am amazed and totally satisfied that a record company would take it's precious time and effort to finally recognize a true, original woman. Unfortunately, the "states" decided to focus on her obvious, and sometimes frightening, image. However, fans of the "Demolition Man" diva, will definitely appreciate this beautifully remastered collection. It's not meant to be a "singles collection" for the "casual box set fans." But it is the most glorious work of art of our "Queen of the Gay Discos" who later transferred into an "out of the box icon" with talent and pure genius. LONG LIVE, GRACE!!! PS. Special thanks 2 the one only AMAZON for their brilliant dedication in making their customers very pleased!!!

I took delivery of this 3-CD pack this afternoon, and did not stop playing it until I listened to every track! The digital quality is fantastic and the "bonus" third CD has really good (longer version and little known) tracks on it, including a demo track which I'd never heard before.
A really fantastic buy for Ms Jones fans - buy it !!!!
