The author's book description states, "Taking in niacin as way of improving your cholesterol is often ridiculed by doctors and health professionals. They do this, because they have no money to earn by advising you to consume more niacin rich meals."

Reality: Doctors and dietitians/nutritionists do not promote regularly taking niacin supplements outside of the care of their health professional because excess levels can lead to liver failure. The "flushing" experience is the body's reaction to toxic levels of niacin. When the liver is overwhelmed by excessive B3 (niacin) it causing a flushing reaction. Many holistic practitioners tout this as a cleanse but in reality it's the body's way of telling you something isn't right, i.e., toxic overdose. And regular flushing from excessive intake causes irreversible liver damage. Large doses of niacin for treatment of cholesterol should only be taken under direction of a physician or nurse practitioner who will be closely monitoring your liver function enzymes to ensure prevention of liver failure.

This book should be removed from Amazon because it carries a risk of causing serious harm to those who purchase it and follow it's recommendations.

Taking a supplement to get a flush is weird. Don't take Niacin on an empty stomach, do take in a dose recommended by your doctor. To lose weight, eat less. No dessert, few animal fats and be careful with carbs --- NOT NO CARB -- NOT GLUTEN FREE just be careful with carbs.

Exercise for long term health, cardio and resistance. It takes about 15 calories to maintain each pound of body weight with normal daily activity. Running or walking fast will burn about 100 calories per mile. You have to have a 3500 calorie deficit to lose one pound. One slice of bread equals one mile.

If you weigh 200 lbs and you eat 2000 calories per day, you will have a 1000 calories decficit. Over a week that is 7000 calories or 2 pounds. Add a fast 15 minute walk every day and you will burn another 3000 calories a month, about one more pound per month.

So if you weigh 100 pounds and you eat 1500 calories per day your weight will not change. If you add
