There is so many resources on sports conditioning and hockey-specific exercise, that it was tough for me to distill everything down into a program for myself and players I work with. Ultimate Hockey Training really spells out exactly what you can do to make drastic improvements in athleticism and how to transfer effort into on-ice success.
Key to this book is the idea of training the body through functional movements with a hockey-movement focus. I particularly enjoyed the "mythbusting" aspects of the book (yes hockey players have been sold plenty of approaches and half-baked ideas that have shown to be ineffective). After all, any book that attempts to distill the wisdom of those in the know will necessarily have to expose common misconceptions.
All in all a fantastic work covering all the physical conditioning needs a hockey player is presented with on the ice.
