Let me say this before I get started: I have tried many in-ear headphones, iBeats Headphones with ControlTalk From Monster® - In-Ear Noise Isolation - Black, Bose® IE2 audio headphones, and Klipsch IMAGE S4 In-Ear Enhanced Bass Noise-Isolating Headphones. I was looking or noise-isolating earphones with good sound quality. That's a pretty reasonable request, right? NOPE.
iBeats did not fit my ears well even though they come with lots of goodies (they were high quality too), BOSE IE2 ones did not provide noise-isolation but they sounded the best and were the most comfortable, Klipsche earbuds were fitting my ears well but they produced a tinny sound when plugged into my laptop.
Then I stumbled upon UltimateEars. I am going to keep it short and simple with pros/cons.
1. Though not as good as the BOSE IE2 headphones, the sound quality is astonishing when looking at the price of $39.99. The highs and lows are very pronounced. Some people might complain that the bass is not as heavy as iBeats, but in reality, I like my music to sound as original as the artists intend to be.
2. It also works with my iPhone. All of the functions are same as the original Apple iPhone earphones. So nothing new.
3. Looks very professional. Opposite audience from SkullCandy's flashy earphones.
4. The cord is relatively tangle free, not the best though.

If you are using passive noise isolation or cancelling earphones, then the most important factor is fit, and how snug the earphones fit into your ear canal. To that end, Logitech provides five sets (XXS-L) of soft silicone ear cushions, so chances are, you will find a good snug fit that will block noise. While a passive noise cancelling system will never equal an active system, passive headphones are usually much cheaper and you don't have to worry about carrying extra batteries for your headphones noise cancellation system.
I found that the largest size provided the tightest fit for my ears, and I tried them out on a Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) train. I'm happy to report that the Ultimate Ears 200vi's did a great job of blocking most external noise, including the loud announcements by train operators. While some sound does seep in, enough external noise was blocked to allow me to enjoy my music.
The headphones provide accurate and balanced sound. Bass is not overwhelming, and the mids and highs are very clear.
I gave it four stars because the on-cord controls and integrated microphone didn't work on my Android Incredible phone. The on-cord controls did work on my iPod Touch, so I imagine the controls should work well with an iPhone or Blackberry (as advertised). The on-cord controls are also very close to your face, which I guess is good when using the on-board mic but somewhat awkward (and difficult to see) when you are trying to use the controls to skip a song.
I highly recommend the Ultimate Ears 200vi Noise Isolating headphones. The price is right, and the headphones provide accurate sound reproduction and solid noise isolation.
I have bought and tried many many earbuds, for primarily use with the iPhone. I have been very disappointed by the sound quality on buds $50-$80. These actually give surprisingly great sound quality at any price and I'm kind of picky.
Frequency response is balanced, not bass enhanced. Everything from deep low-bass up to the mids are strong and proportional. The only frequency that lacks is the highest range. Trebble rolls off at the highest frequencies where it's weak or non-existent, but that's very high. I hardly notice it except with certain songs where I'm used to hearing them with my Sony earbuds that over-perform on the high end. That said I prefer my Sony buds favor over-perform mids and lows at the expense of mids but I'd be perfectly happy with these.
For a price of $13, you can't beat it.
Construction and materials:
The cord basically rubber, not flexible plastic like I'm used to which gives them a bit of a cheap feel. The buds are a molded plastic, not higher quality like some $40-$50 competitors I've had. But the design is pretty good and they feel like they should be pretty durable and water resistant.
I can't review durability as I haven't had them long enough. Nothing about them indicates to me that they should break easily.
The first thing I noticed is that the silicon ear pieces provide very high sound isolation. There are 4 size silicon ear tips to fit your ear just right. Sound isolation is very good with these.
I haven't tested it.
The iPhone/iPod remote works just like all of the rest. Volume up & down buttons and a center button for multi-use (call answer, play/pause.) The remote is adequately constructed.Read more ›

Really nice, mic picks up too much, and cord makes noise if you move. Left earbud died on me after 5 months.Published 4 months ago by Amazon Customer

Great sound. Only downside was that the buds did not stay in my ear, no matter what size I chose. Gave them to my girlfriend and she loves them.Published 8 months ago by M. Damon
