Having a hard time rating this...First of all, I have to say that I am a huge Clarissa Wild fan. I've read most of her books and I love her dark writing.
I am also a lover of the dark side, so these thoughts have nothing to do with how dark the book was.
The book is really dark. Our heroine was captured as a child and sold into slavery. She has been brainwashed, she has been conditioned to actually want her life as a slave. Her master is cruel and all she knows is the ugly side of our world.
When she is sold to another master, her world is turned upside down. Master Marcus is not your usual master. He is fair and he treats Ava kindly; something that shocks her. It will take her a while to become comfortable in his presence.
The books examines in detail the aftermath of human trafficking and slavery. But in this case, we get to see a kind master who actually wants to atone for his past mistakes. He wishes to help people like Ava...but he is hiding a big secret from her; something that can devastate her.
Ava cannot help but slowly fall for her new master and when he buys another male slave, that's when things get complicated.
The book also has M/F/M themes. That was one of the things that didn't work for me, not because I do not like the added spice, but because I think the story didn't need it.
Also, dark reads draw readers in because of the emotional impact these people's stories can have on them, but in this case-for me at least-, I did not feel a great connection to the characters. My fave character has to be Daniel.
I found some of Ava's behavior repetitive and even though I knew she was brainwashed and conditioned, I wanted so see some change in her. I found her reaction to Marcus a bit too sugar-y and their romance fell a bit flat for me.

Your life is in their hands.
No......Your life is in his hands.
He is your Master.
You have been trained to be the perfect servant.
You job is to submit, no matter the cost.
You will do everything he asks, because you know if you don't the punishment is severe.
Beatings.
Lashes.
Blood.
Pain.
You will be the ultimate perfect submissive.

But in a a blink of an eye your world is about to change.
Again you are sold off.
You have a new Master now.
You now have to learn all over again how to be the perfect submissive for him.

But little do you know your new Master will in actual fact completely change the course of your life.

His mane.

Marcus Knight.

A man with no boundaries, a man with no feeling. A man with blood on his hands. He's cold, calculated, a murderer.
But she is his hope, his light in such a dark and tortured world. She will be his salvation. She will be his right in a wrong world. She will be the one thing that he is determined to get right.

She just doesn't know it yet.
But she will.
She will be his Ultimate Sin.

Ultimate Sin what can we say other than.......OMFG what a brilliant read. We couldn't put it down. From beginning to end we were taken on one of the most raw, gritty, emotional, dark, and highly confronting reads we have read to date.
At times disturbing it completely drew us in.
So twisted we were captivated by every word.
Twists and turns left us spell bound.
The rawness left us breathless.
The emotion rendered us speechless.
A novel that with so much to offer it left us wanting more and more.

I felt that this book had so much potential, but it fell very short. The sex scenes were alright but really there's not much more going for this book than that - and I'm guessing they are the sole reason for all the 5 star reviews (that or the reviewers have never read a decent book to know the difference). The characters were extremely unbelievable, specifically Ava. Yes she was 'trained' to be the way she was, but I don't believe for a second that any real person would actually be as pathetic, no matter their history. The ending completely killed whatever there was of the story - it was boring, and felt like it was simply there to add words rather than to actually tell us anything necessary to the story line.
The basic idea of the book was really good, and I was pulled in straight away with the first couple of chapters, but it gradually just got worse and worse. Basically my thoughts are that this book written by someone else could have been amazing.

Clarissa Wild always delivers a unique and entertaining story and this book is no exception. This book was far from the typical master/slave story and it kept me hooked the whole way through. Ava is a slave who knows nothing beyond what she has been trained to do, and with very few memories of who she is and where she comes from. She is taken from her Master's home by Marcus, a dark and mysterious man who is so completely different than the cruel and malicious man she had served for so long. It is an immense struggle for Ava to deviate from what she is used to. She has been trained to serve her Master in all aspects, with no regard for her own wants or needs. Marcus tries to get her out of that mindset, but it is so ingrained in her that its almost impossible to do. He is patient with her and tries to show her that she is much more than just a mere servant. Neither Marcus nor Ava thinks that they are worthy of each other, and it comes out in every interaction that they have. Things get even more complicated when Marcus brings in Daniel, another servant who has been trained and kept as a slave for years. The story is told from the POV of all three characters, and it was great getting into the minds of the characters and knowing what they were feeling.

It wouldn't be a Clarissa Wild book without the amazing twists and turns, and this book definitely had them. The Alliance, the powerful criminal syndicate that has been featured in Wild's other books, plays a large part in this story. There are hidden truths that you cannot wait to uncover. Marcus was a man on a mission, and that mission is unclear until later on in the book. He wants redemption to right all the wrongs that he has committed in his life, and knows just what he needs to do to get it.
