This book is a HEAVY faux-leather book that is fantastically bound and well made. The cover is a crimson red with a distinctive silver "Ultimate Spider-man" insignia on the front, this cover is subtle yet dignified. The Spine of the book has the "Marvel Omnibus" logo on the top with the title and creative team on the side, this is all in the same silver tone as the insignia on the cover. This book is physically superior to most other formats, and graciously outshines the paperback trades.
The dust jacket features a gallery of all the covers in this volume, which is a nice touch.
As for the content of the book itself, the content is a perfect partner to the aesthetic appeal of this volume.
Ultimate Spider-man has the fantastic creative team of Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley. Bendis is at his best in this series and is able to wonderfully capture the spirit of Spidey, from his guilt to his quips directed at his foes. As for Bagley, the art is great at capturing the swell of these epic conflicts between our young hero and his foes. Not only that but Bagley is also able to capture the individual spectrum of emotions for each character, from Kraven to MJ.
This volume collects some of young Peter's most interesting conflicts. The first arc establishes fan-favorite Norman Osborn as possibly Spider-man's most dangerous foe. As difficult as it would seem to usurp this as the supreme arc in the story, the series continues to improve as you read. The rouges gallery given and improved upon include: Electro, Doc Ock, Kingpin, Kraven the Hunter and more. The final arc in this volume is a fitting climax for the series. Venom, who has been one of the most popular villains in Spider-man history, gets his ultimate universe origin at the end of this volume and gives us a wonderful insight into the emotions of our hero, and those he loves.
At the end of the book there is a section dedicated to sketches and creator interview and even deleted scenes, to my knowledge this volume is the only way to get these awesome extras.
Overall I would say that this volume is a must buy for someone who is a fan of the series or someone who just wants to find somewhere to start reading. The price listed by Amazon is extremely reasonable and makes this definitely worth purchasing.
The pages are nice, artwork is colorful and vibrate, excellent writing, with bonus material and it is definitely worth the price, a must for Spiderman fans. Other reviewers did a much better job than I.

If you love spidery then splash a little dish and enjoy. The art work and stories are second to none. A real treat.
Can't wait for the second omnibus, but will need to save for it.
The first few issues will seem a bit dull since they retread the same origin story we've seen in multiple comics, movies, TV series and so on over the years with only minor variations. Once you get past that, the series starts to develop its own voice and its own take on the character.
I'd recommend this to fans of Spidey, and to new comic readers in general who don't want to parse 50 years of continuity.
