WetFire™ tinder was born from the need for a universal lighting material that was safe, easy-to-carry, and unaffected by wind or water. You might not be like the elite military troops for whom is was designed, but you can be prepared like them. If you are into the outdoors and find yourself hiking, camping, or backpacking, you never know where you might end up and in what kind of weather. You need something that will light a fire in a rainstorm if needed, but even better are the bonuses of it being non–toxic and extinguishing instantly.

At first I really did enjoy these. They're relatively compact and yes they smell a bit like gasoline but you won't notice until you open them. They light quick and stay lit to get your fire going.
The more I used these the less economical I felt they were. They absolutely work as advertised but with their convenience comes their price.
I will still keep these in the emergency stash so I have them as an option. For the next camping season I'm going to use some generic fire starting logs/sticks and see if those work better. The trade off there is weight and size.
These can also get crushed if you forget them in a pocket or if you're trying to prep the fire and someone stands next to you and steps on it by not seeing it.
My recommendation is think about how/where you would use these and if there is anything else that might work.
Some folks have posted about them not working very well. Must be user error. As long as their little bag is still sealed airtight, (like a bag of chips before it pops) I've used these for a couple of years after their expiration date and they still work well.
As with any piece of survival gear, test it at home in a controlled environment first to set your expectations around it's capabilities and limitations. Don't wait until your in the backcountry to rely on it before you try it.
In fact, the only thing that would make it better is if you had a little case or something to keep the packets in once you unsealed one of them and partially used it. I can't knock the product for that. If you wanted to you could pre-shave some of this into an altoids or other small conainer and just pinch what you need to get a fire going.
The lighter fluid wouldn't start it. It burnt off before the wood would light. The wetfire tinder however, got that baby blazing. Now maybe you say the lighter fluid did all the work and the tinder came in for the knockout, but I don't think so. That little square really got things going. I say this is essential to have anytime you go camping. It's a game changer
Though it would be cool to get a discount/free stuff for my honest review, I did not get any.. This is all me spending my $ and giving my honest review.
