I have been using this magnifying glass a lot for the past few days. I have several magnifying glasses for different things. But, for reading, this one is the best one that I have. I do a lot of reading and sometimes my vision gets strained. When that happens the magnifying glass is one of my tools.

The rectangular shape is perfect for any type of reading (books, maps, magazines, etc.). It has a good weight if you have to hold it for an extended period of time (I do not have any problems with my hands like arthritis, for instance). I want to mention the LED light. I almost did not get this product because of a previous review on how the LED light was left on by accident because it was easy to do so and this was a problem for that particular purchaser. Since I now have this magnifying glass I do not understand the complaint. I am assuming we both have the same product. The light switch on my magnifying glass is not "easy" to turn on. It's not by any means hard to do but you need more than brushing it with a finger to do it. When I am holding it in my hand it is above my right index finger. I have to move my thumb over and above my index finger to turn it on. Maybe somebody could have a difficult time but I do not. I only mention this because that one "most helpful critical review" almost made me continue looking.

The only thing that would make this magnifying glass better is some kind of bag to hold it or carry it. Other than that, the product is great. It was shipped promptly. I can't say anything more.

Unlike many similar magnifiers, this one comes with a bright LED light and a switch that works well. For reading purposes, however, I found this magnifier not ideal because its circular-shaped lens focuses on only one word at a time while distorting the adjacent words. This type of lens focuses to a point such that it can concentrate sunlight to start a fire. For reading, the "Carson Optical Lighted Magnifold Magnifier" sold at Amazon works better.

I bought this for my mother who has macular degeneration. She proudly showed me that it fit in a little zippered case and told me that the folding handle allowed her to use this in many places. The LED light makes a big difference too.

This item is my favorite. I have AMD and rely on magnifiers to view everyday objects. I have purchased many types but this item can be easily carried and has a built in light. An ideal combo for all situations. Take it to the market, a restaurant or read Rx labels at home.

Product is truthfully represented in retail description, although the description is not as complete as I wanted. There are no obvious major design flaws, as this product performs relatively well.

The retractable handle can only be held in one position, since the single LED is on the side with the handle, should the user wish to manually manipulate something with the right hand while holding the magnifier in the left, it is a clumsy process. The light is bright enough, the handle and accompanying switch are generally adequate for the light-weight device.

Perhaps it should have handles for holding with either the right of left hand and have the light switch integrated with the handles, so when the handle is unfolded and extended, the integrated switch turns on two LED's on each side.

The only part of the glass that isn't distorted is a tiny circle right in the middle. You have to close one eye to look through it. This item is way overpriced for such dismal quality.

This is a great magnifier to carry in your purse or pocket when you're going to have to read fine print or a dim light. It is perfect for reading those menus in restaurants with subdued lighting. I wouldn't be without mine. A suggestion: it would be nice if it has a carrying case to protect the glass from scratches and/or smudges.
