As for the rest. The S-logic on these babies is the real deal. 5.1+ surround sound movies sound absolutely amazing on these things. The same goes for games. Bullets and explosions fly around your head, you can identify locations footsteps in any direction and you can hear the "sub bass" effects that are in movies but not easily heard on speakers or regular headphones as it bleeds in, where as the sub bass on these separates itself from the group and makes itself known.
And these are fantastic for language learning as the detail and accuracy are immpeccable. Gone are the days of constant back and forward rewind trying to figure out what they are saying. With these headphones you can clearly just hear it exactly as you should.
Let's get another thing out of the way... when you first get these, they'll sound TERRIBLE. For 99% of headphones out there, 'burn-in' is just a myth perpetuated by audiophiles that buy $1500 HDMI cables. But these will sound extremely harsh and uneven for the first 70-100 hours of use. Like, worse than apple earbuds. That's OK. By around 100 hours the sound will completely transform and the harsh treble will recede a great deal. By 300 hours, these will stabilize and you'll get the final sound. TL;DR play music through these for a minimum of 100 hours before making a judgement on them.
After the burn in... play your favorite tracks through these and prepare to have your mind blown. People talk about the bass on these headphones like it's something magical. It is. This is not a 'boomy' ghetto-blaster type of bass. It's a ridiculously detailed low-end that breathes life into everything including cello, electric guitar, and bass synth. That said... where it really stands out is when playing techno/house/trance. The sound quality you'll get through these headphones will remind you of a high-end club with a Funktion One sound system.
What about the high end? After burn-in (did I mention how crucial it is with these cans?) it has settled to a pleasant but 'active' behavior. It's extremely detailed but sometimes too exaggerated (which can lead to mild sibilance with 's' sounds in certain songs). Given the incredible detail these offer... that's a downside I'm alright with.
These feature S-Logic (a technology that places the drivers off-axis in order to imitate a larger soundstage) which really helps them sound spacious but you have to make sure to place your ears near the back.
In terms of leakage, I'd rate them as moderate. In other words, they're fine to use at work if your office has some background noise. They will, however, leak too much if your office is really quiet. In that case, go for something like the Beyerdynamic DT770.
Who will love these:
Who will hate these:
-People who like a flat response curve
-People who listen to mostly vocal music
In this price-bracket it will be heard to get anything better from a closed-system.
I've used the P900i on several Gear, always amplified in some sort for around 50 hours by now.
They really need a breakin & yet, I still feel they're evolving....
Take this to heart not to judge if you receive them brand new... give them a good 50 hours as a first real indicator.
My main usage was on the PC for Music, Entertainment like Youtube, sometimes a little gaming --> That's what i've bought them for.
You can wear this for longer time periods, they headphone isn't heavy, it is a sturdy built with a veeery comfortable headband (P900i),
you get additional earcups, 2 cables (1/4 and 3,5mm).
Overall: Really good comfort and Value in terms of what you get in the box...
Mainly: (PC) Asus Xonar Phoebus --> P900
Others: Chord Mojo (DAC/AMP) --> P900
Oppo-HA1 (DAC/AMP) --> P900
(Not tested yet) Oppoa-Ha(DAC) --> WooAudio Wa22 (Amp) --> P900
I like the P900i, some say the bass is out of this world, too much... i don't feel so actually...
Yes, this headphone has punch, it delivers, bass impact is top...
Mids are a tiny bit recessed sometimes, will see how they develop further down the road.
Highs are well defined, not too hot or too bright for my taste.
--> Those really seems to be a perfect fit if you listen to let's say EDM - but at this time it isn't the best allrounder.
In Terms of sound-stage i was pretty pleased from a closed headphone, S-Logic seems to do the trick here.
It does a really really remarkable job considered these are closed cans. You can separate Instruments on the stage easily, a nice size with good imagination.
Are there better closed cans?
Of course there are:
a) Based on YOUR personal preference, if you don't like the sound signature of the P900 (which doesn't make them bad, just not a fit for you ;-))
The best thing is always to listen with YOUR or comparable Gear... Because it's not only the Headphone... If you talk audio, you're talking about the whole Chain which start at the Source through all the things in between until you get to the Output (speakers/headphones).
b) If you're looking into other price brackets.
I gave this Headphones a 5 out of 5 Stars, because in terms of Price/Performance Ratio it's well deserved!
Grab 'em --> I'm very happy to have them in my Headphone Collection beside a lot of other headphones (HD800S, HD700, Grado GS1000E, Audeze LCD-3 among some IEM's and even some Beats Models). I don't think of swapping them out in the near feature, highly recommended.
For me this is a winner for sure!
An Amplifier is of course highly recommended even if they can be driven directly from a portable.... (A Fiio is a good start and won't break your bank).

The audiophile's most basshead cans around.
The bass is speakers-like, yet it won't make the rest 'freqs go unoticed.Read more
