at about 2 inches depth of tank, not a batch maker anyway, if you use a separate jar, as you should.
may want to check the DIYlet group on yahoo groups for some recommends. typically 75-100 bucks.
all of these mini ultrasonics overheat easily.
that said, it is a pretty good power supply inside.
this is a pancake style , layered piezo, not an actual transducer.
mine lasted about 2 hours in 2 minute intervals.
Piezo shorted to ground, and burned base, and wired leads , when i finally opened it to check.
These are all made the same way, by the same company, just rebadged.
Would give this a 1 star, but it is a nice design, with solid switches, an led, and the good power supply.
looks like most of the single name reviews are faked too....
I bought this unit to clean dentures. It is a joke for them to say it cleans with water only. I used denture cleaner, peroxide, and vinegar to get it to clean. All these worked, but vinegar did the best job: about 1/3 vinegar in water. It took 2 of the 3 minute cycles, and I cleaned them every morning. In slightly less than 2 months it completely stopped working. Would not even come on. There are other reviews which attest to this poor longevity. I suspect that people who only use it occasionally to clean jewelry might be happy, buy anyone who wants to use this everyday had better buy something else.
I threw it in the trash, and have ordered the Ultrasonic Cleaner Model D3800A by iSonic. It has a separate fill-able tray, several time cycles, and is only $7 more. It also cleans DVDs and is about the same size; just much better designed. I'll let you know after a few months how it works out. But, don't buy the DB-Tech, look for something else.
