Product Description

The PestKicker is designed to repel mice, rats, roaches and most crawling insects in spacious areas. It is perfect for warehouses, restaurants, food distributors and other similar large venues suffering from vermin problems. Laboratory research has shown ultrasonic sound waves attack the auditory and nervous systems of most common pests, causing them pain and discomfort. These high-intensity sound waves will force pests to give up their source of food, water as well as shelter and move on. Most importantly, the advanced transducer module inside brings this product a high level of effectiveness. The PestKicker will not interfere with television, radios, electronic burglar alarms, fire or smoke detectors, pacemakers, hearing aids or other electronic equipment. It does not harm humans and pets, either.

I was skeptical about this thing working. The picture looks a lot bigger than what I saw the final item as.(picture the size of a small hand held radio just slightly bigger.) At first I felt cheated, but then when I realized the space I would eventually fit this in it made it a good feature it was small. I had been having a problem with squirrels shimmying down one of the vent pipes in the roof and getting into the attic of the house. Of course they would make all kinds of noise at ungodly hours of the night. Plus having a family member bamming on the ceiling to scurry them away was a load of fun!(kidding)

But it finally got to a point where we got tired of them and the weird smells and once they started shimmying down into the walls it was time to do something, anything to get them the heck out of the house. We had tried the basics of peppermint oil, etc. but that lasted momentarily and once the smell was gone they were back! We turned this to the highest setting when it first came. I also pressed the test button and quickly learned I need no more convincing of how annoying this would sound to the animal. Since it was located in my room I would vary the setting from high to low because it does have a piercing kind of whine to it(though you can turn it lower where its not audible to your hearing). I noticed that they started to become more active during the day. So I figured that it must be working.

So the next week my family member suggested we move it into the living room, where it seemed they would always be bouncing around at in the ceiling area. Eventually by the end of the week it was completely silent in the ceiling for once. I guess the sound became so unbearable they decided to leave.

Ultrasonics are bit hard to quantify and rate, but there are a few thigs that make this a great idea:
1: This unit is light weight, easy to use, and looks good.
2: The unit does work, and even on high freq setting, you can feel the sound pressure though not hear it.
3: I turned it on to see how birds responded to it. There was no immediate instant reaction or fear, but after about 45 seconds they all left and did not come back until I turned it off. (It is probably more of an irritant or unpleasantness than an outright threat type of thing.)
4: The neighbors dogs did not get upset with it on, so I will not have neighbor problems if I use it. (I do suspect that they would not like it at the lower freq range and if they were closer to the mounting location.... just use it wisely.)
5: It is small and light weight enough that you easily mount up out of the way, or hang it with a sticky velcro strip up and out of sight.
6: It is low cost so you can afford to buy more than one to get all around good coverage.
7: You might adjust one at one range of sound freq and a second at a slightly different range and beat frequency them against each other to greatly enhance the effective range and power.
Enjoy!
UPDATED 04Nov13: Okay, I have used this and another one for a year now, and right through the fruiting season. I also remounted it closer to the trees, in fact, I relocated it within 30 inches of the center of my closest apricot tree. My best guess is this: the birds don't like it perse', and they do not seem stay around it for too long, but it is not loud enough and does not stop anything from helping itself as long as it wants, even though within 48 to 60 inches of the unit.

Excellent!!! I have tried many ways to get rid of pests in my house, like pesticides and trap. However, the pesticide odors linger in my place, my clothing and even furniture which really bother me. Luckily I found the ultrasonic pest repeller. It allows more areas to be covered with wide frequency range. They all appeared at the first few days, but now I did not see any of them now. The ultrasonic sound is really working!!!

I bought this to serve as a controlled ultrasonic sound source for acoustical testing in an animal facility. I needed a good, loud source so that we could measure how much isolation we had between spaces. It indeed generates a ton of energy in the ultrasonic regime.

Bought one of these awhile back ago, thought I'd give it a shot on rats living in my attic. Since then, I've been having headaches all the time, and its not just me, even my kids are getting headaches. The unit has now been disposed for safety reasons, word of advice: don't ever buy this product, unless you are immune to headaches. I would say this product needs redesign, medical prove, retests, etc... before it does permanent damage to someone.

oh and, it certainly gave us headaches but the rats seems unaffected.

I had problems with mice and rats at home, and after several weeks with this Pest Repeller, the problem continued. I had to use other more traditional options to get rid of those animals.

But it works with cockroachs and similar insects.

I bought the unit to deter the mice from entering or at least cause them to leave once they entered. The unit is clearly making a noise that I can hear...however, it doesn't appear to be effective at all. I can still hear the mice running in the ceiling even after changing locations and positions several times!!!
