One of the other reviewers said they thought the clock had curvature. I can see why they thought that from the product picture's shading, but it does not. If you look at the picture closely, you can see that it doesn't. I've uploaded some pictures to show a side view so it's clearer.
As for the clock function, it's just a typical clock mechanism that I expect to perform like any other battery operated clock we have.
June 2013 update- It has not been quite 2 years but I still love this clock. There was a time where I thought it was malfunctioning. The arms stopped moving after changing batteries?!?. I messed with it some and changed the batteries again and it is working fine still. It's a nice piece in my great room and people complement it.
The result is a hollow, double starburst shape that protrudes at least 4 inches from the wall. What I dislike most about this is that the hollow space between the front and back (where the chocolate inside an M&M would be) has a cheap looking, black, plastic clockworks showing clearly when looking from any side view. No attempt is made to hide or encase the clockworks and it looks very chintzy and unfinished.
The modern sleekness of a nice material like stainless steel, is made pointless by leaving the plastic "insides" showing. If they just put a stainless case around the mechanics, it wouldn't look so crummy. As it is, it is an almost-elegant design, ultimately ruined by a half-finished execution. It protrudes out and away from the wall in a clumsy, awkward manner, again defeating an attempt at modern design. Within ten minutes of unpacking it, I decided to send it back
