I just put the book down not ten minutes ago, and it was good. No--it is truly a great work of satire, perhaps one of the best of our generation. It is almost perfect--long enough to justify buying it new, but "brevity is the soul of wit"--so it does not drag out unnecessarily. The prose is is intelligent without being pretentious; it is thought-provoking while at once provoking the people around me to ask what in the bonnie blue blazes I found so funny in a book which proclaims on its reverse cover--"God doesn't love America. Quite the reverse." (I live in the South.) The protagonist was thoroughly amusing, and God was as I prefer to imagine him.
I cannot do this book justice, so stop reading my review, read the book instead.
