For anyone who is in an emotionally abusive relationship, you will find yourself within these pages...and also receive validation that your story isn't too crazy. I hope that Paula's book will give readers the courage to join the army of survivors and thrivers. This book may very well save your life.
Victimization (of all kinds) by these people who lack a conscience needs more public awareness. Victims feel totally alone. I know. I too was a victim. Their self-esteem is at an all time low at the hands of a sociopath, psychopath or other kind of abuser. What victims need FIRST is to realize that they are not alone!
Ms. Carrasquillo does a magnificent in job letting victims know that they are not alone by providing a wonderful compilation of numerous stories by different survivors from all over the world. In simple words, each story is different, yet the same. I only wish this book was available when I first went through the discard period with my psychopath ex-husband. Hearing that I was not alone would have greatly helped me, as would the advice each victim provided. I applaud each victim for sharing their story.
Knowing that you are not alone, that are others have experienced what you have experienced, is KEY to the start of breaking from your abuser. Hopeful with “no contact,” your healing and growth will be a new beginning filled with healthy relationships.
As victim “Fawn” said “If your gut thinks something is off, it likely is.”
