“Her name is Bond. Jamie Bond. And her life is about to be shaken and stirred in a cocktail of sex, lies, scandal, and one very dead body.
Jamie Bond is a former cover model who switches gears to take over the family business: The Bond Agency, a high-powered P.I. firm located in Los Angeles that specializes in domestic espionage - catching cheating husbands. Jamie's assembled a team of other disenchanted former models to help her take names and kick derrieres among L.A.'s wealthiest philandering husbands. Her current client: Mrs. Veronica Waterston, the young, distraught wife of superior court judge, Thomas Waterston, known for his tough sentencing, right-wing leanings, and his fondness for blondes with double D's. Easy target. But Jamie's simple case takes an unexpected turn for the worse when the not-so-good judge winds up on the ten o'clock news with a bullet through his head. It's clear that someone has set Jamie up, and suddenly she's on the run, under fire, and in serious jeopardy of losing it all. With a hot A.D.A. on her trail, a killer on the loose, and her life on the line, Jamie must prove once and for all that nobody messes with a Bond.”
I love Gemma Halliday and this book did not disappoint. Jamie Bond and her crew are fun and exciting. Jamie faces some pretty scary challenges. Jamie has to go on the run. With help from her family and her friends she faces off against an unsuspected killer.
The mystery on this one was great. It wasn't obvious but looking back all of the pieces fell into places nicely.
It was a fun book sure to keep you reading late into the night.
Jamie, and her employees Maya, Sam, and Caleigh are working a case to show that Judge Thomas Waterston is cheating on his wife. Once they have the evidence they turn it over to the scorned wife. The next day, the Judge is found dead and Jamie is looking good as a suspect.
Quickly, the agency learns that the scorned wife is not the real wife and that something is amiss. In the meantime the ADA Aiden Price is trying to put Jamie behind bars while not admitting he is attracted to her.
The book centers around primarly trying to solve who the real killer of the Judge is. It was a cute read and I admit that I will get the next book in the series to read.
BUT: I was pleasantly surprised by the high level of enjoyment in reading this tale.
There is just a soupcon of mentions about mindless fashions and shoes, but not enough to detract from (and over-power) the reading satisfaction.
The agreeable tale includes some humour among the action to keep the reader flipping pages!
Jamie runs head on into tight, dangerous, and sometimes comical situations while trying to prove her innocence in the murder of her client's cheating husband.
I look forward to reading more books in this series.
