Unchained Potential (The Whispering Crystals: A LitRPG Series Book 4) Kindle Edition
Fighting with your heart on the line may be hard, but it's sure as hell worth it.
Emma and Kaitlynn are about to start the next—and final—series of Trials, and the only thing that seems certain is that it’s going to be a bumpy friggin’ ride.
Past those, there's still the mysterious Final Hub to tackle, undoubtedly featuring a certain flying Lightning Witch with a grudge.
Even if they make it through all that, will what Emma gained in the Realm of Imagination prove enough to protect her in the mysterious society that awaits them outside?
One thing seems clear: Emma will have to be prepared to put everything on the line to succeed.
But does that include Kaitlynn?

It's really fun watching the characters expand their knowledge on the world, as it blows my mind each time with the new ideas and alternate realities that I can actually understand if I think about them enough. Unlike other stories that just say; it's magic, it just works. It doesn't just build a well-defined magic power system, it builds a well-defined alternate reality.
If it was just part of the story, that'd be fine, but it literally takes up more than half the book. It is the driving point of the novel, and it's just not interesting to me. Add in all the make-out scenes, descriptions of what they are going to do, optional adult scene chapters, and Mills just got lost in the fantasy of these two girls hooking up in another universe...
I like the story, so I'll give it another go and see if Mills pulls it back and focuses on the story, rather than this silly/weird teenage romance.
There is a formatting issue, though -- the text boxes (which are, fortunately, not vital to the story) are illegible if you, like me, use a kindle to increase text size for accessibility purposes. They don't scale with the rest of the text, and the font used is just too small for legibility.
I like that there were characters aside from the MC that have shown continuous growth. And that not all of that growth revolved around the main character.
I'm not a huge fan of romance, and there was a lot of it. But the author kept it tasteful, with a lot of "fade to black" for the steamy stuff.
Now I know that certain people were a little......."sensitive", shall we say, to the idea of Emma's and Kaitlyn's relationship. If that includes you then you will NOT like this book as that is a large part of it. Myself I am a more, love who you love, type of person so I saw it as a genuine sharing of feelings and therefor enjoyable. I will say that one point of contention I have is a chapter that is left out with instructions on how to get access to it. The author gives his reasoning for it, but at least for me the instructions were not valid so I missed out on that chapter, which is super annoying. It's not vital info of any kind, but it is unnecessary and really yanks you out of the book.
Overall I loved this book. It was steady throughout until the last third or so. Then things REALLY get going and I couldn't put it down. The ending is quite intriguing and I am really quite excited to see how things continue!
