Mr. Katz puts the reader right into each scene as if you was an intimate little eavesdropper. It is obvious that Mr. Katz put an insurmountable amount of work into this book and is to be commended.I found this book riveting and compelling and I was on the edge of my chair. He(Costello) is one of the last true Machiavellian Princes.

Enjoyed it thoroughly, he was a pretty slick guy, just remember the movie the Godfather. Don Corleone had an important commodity in his possession, the politicians. This man was not of violence but political manipulation. I guess things still remain the same. I really enjoyed the fact that he was a personal "friend" of my uncle who is mentioned a considerable amount in this book. I never knew the relationship!

He could hobnob with senators, presidents, judges, and movie stars; yet controlled his family with class and honor. Mr. Costello knew J. Edgar Hoover, Harry Truman, Franklin Roosevelt, and helped obtain positions for New York judges and congressmen. He enjoyed dressing well, held court at the Waldorf-Astoria, and was a true Godfather in the old- fashioned way.
