My first reaction to this recording was.."Wondrous, Glorious, Magnificent"!! The playing here is on a very high professional level, Ritchie and Lippincott have brought off a highly enjoyable recital of seldom heard Bach pieces. The DTS sound does indeed make one feel that one is in the St. Alphonsus Church. I was going to give this recording 5 stars, except there is a problem with the transfer from the original source material. On my copy the beginning of each section is trun- cated/chopped off so that one misses the first microsecond of the pieces. This is only slightly disconcerting but noticeable...too bad, this is an otherwise perfect organ experience.

This is an excellent recording of Bach transcriptions for Organ. I particularly liked the Toccata BWV 912.
The sound quality in DTS 5.1 is top-notch. Organ really makes the surround sound worthwile, because you get completely immersed in the music, as if you were sitting in the church.
In addition, unlike most other discs from DTS entertainment, this one actually has very good notes on the recordings, the pieces, and the artists. The fact that this was done in conjunction with the American Bach Society most likely helped.
I only wish DTS entertainment did more recordings like this one !

Very good recording in DTS of rare Bach gems. Can not go wrong with Bach. As one organist was asked which was his favorite organ piece, he replied..."whichever piece I am playing at the moment!"... which also applies here. Realistic, "you are there" type of recording. The organ is an instrument that needs the acoustical "placement" in its setting to convey the real feeling of the organ, This recording does just that!
