In addition, the Birmingham, AL native founded JH Israel which helped establish the National Leadership Center (NLC) in Ariel, Israel. The NLC hosts programs that have given more than 85,000 Israeli and Arab youth an unparalleled experiential learning adventure in biblical leadership and life purpose. Heather studied Communications at Auburn University and completed her ThM at Beeson Divinity School. She resides in Birmingham with her husband, Bruce. Together they have two children, David and Mallory.

Although I wrote a review yesterday giving this book Five Stars, I must say that Heather makes the common mistake of quoting the Scriptures by which Jesus gave four requirements for being His disciples in Luke 14 and John 8, and then giving her opinion concerning what they mean and how they apply without making it clear that these are her opinions and understanding. I believe that Jesus said exactly what He meant, and we need to satisfy His clear requirements without choking on the word 'hate'.

A great manuscript for a DEEP walk with God

I found this book to be very helpful in my search for a deeper walk with God. I have known Heather and Bruce Johnston for over 20 years, And I find the journey of their lives to be very inspiring, mainly because of the open-handed daily walk with Him. They have borne so much spiritual fruit over the years, I am envious. Uncommon Favor tells their unlikely story of following hard after the heart of God, no matter the obstacles. I too want to become more obedient to His calling. Best book I’ve read in many years.
