Emma: Betrayed by her husband of ten years, emotionally abandoned, she divorces him and dips her toe into the dating pool....
Beau finds himself in desperate straits: the garage that his father left him is failing; Beau must do SOMETHING to change the downward spiral, or his brother, his mother and he himself will soon be completely destitute. A stranger walks in his door, and offers Beau a deal; if Beau will keep an eye on his sister Emma, make sure she doesn't fall in with the wrong crowd, and checks in with him daily, the stranger will help solve Beau's problems. Beau is hesitant, but finally agrees... feeling as if he just made a deal with the devil...
The first time Emma sees Beau, she feels as if lightning has struck. Immediately fascinated with him, Emma attempts to strike up a conversation with him. But Beau is strangely aloof, and rejects Emma's overtures. But Emma is tenacious; she's not giving up on him; there's something between them... something special.
Oh my... this book! An emotional roller coaster! Beau wants Emma, but feels guilty about spying on her and reporting back to Emma's brother. Emma wants Beau, but has been so deeply hurt by her ex husband's betrayal, that she isn't sure if what she feels is real or worth pursuing. The plot twists and turns, the ups and downs, it's as if YOU are in the story with the characters, wanting to cheer them on, warn them away, whatever it takes to guarantee a happy ending.
Everyone needs a new beginning and everyone should have a chance to be loved, cherished and taken care of.
I was truly smitten by Beau. He is rough around the edges, doesn't let anyone inside the high walls he has built around his heart.
Except for his family he never smiles, until her...
Emmie just got out of painful divorce and wants a new beginning. Having been committed to only one person, she needs to start to live again. When she meets Beau for the first time she is struck by his handsomeness.... She's never ever had a reaction to the opposite sex ...until him. Invisible strings seem to be pulling her into his spell, although Beau is not the commitment type.
The plot is skillfully twisted and the things you think you know, will prove you totally wrong in the end.
Emmie has the ability to be completely confident and yet vulnerable all at the same time. She's endearing and I love her for it. She doesn't have a mean bone in her body and can handle anything life throws at her with dignity; always coming out stronger on the other side. She is the girl you want to be best friends with you'll love her journey.
Beau is the strong silent type and hallelujah! This girl loves a man who takes care of business, loves his family, and is sexy AF! He is the perfect ying to Emmie's yang and they work really well off each other and together.
One of my favorite reads of the year and of Emery Jacobs'! This book is undeniably 5 stars!
Emmie's brothers Miles, ask Beau to play PI role, and look out for Emmie.
This moves really slow. So much back in fourth. The few kisses leads to - I shouldn't. or apologies.
There really isn't any thing interesting to keep me wanting to finish this novel.
To much back in fourth takes away from the romance. I hate a lot of back in fourth.
50% through the character do the deed, but are still not together. at 57% through when they are still playing cat and mouse. I skipped to the end, And I will not be finishing this book.
The epilogue- Emmie had Beau's baby, and still aren't living together, until the end of the epilogue when Emmie decides she is ready to go home with Beau. Beau does already have a son who doesn't belong to Emmie.
I am not finishing this book because there isn't any thing happening, I can not connect to character who doesn't have any togetherness. When a book contains so much back in fourth, I feel it ruins it. I like romance, and there isn't any in this book. A hot scene or two, And so many head thoughts.
This was my first read by this author. I won't be reading any more.
