There are aspects of these shorts that I don't really care for. The pouch to hold the cup doesn't do much good for jocular protection imho. My cup can fit into okay, but it is not up against your body, braced for impact. I suppose it would be better than nothing in an emergency situation, but imagine having a cup floating a half inch from your goods getting drilled by a grounder. I can't imagine the impact from the cup traveling at a high speed for that half inch jamming into your jewels feels particularly awesome. I anticipated this, as sliding shorts rarely double as good cup holders, so I wear a jock underneath. The only downside here is that both waistbands are a little tight, and worn together they squeeze me enough that I end up farting the entire game. My poor teammates...
Anyways, what I consider the real purpose of these shorts; to protect you from endless raspberries in case you find yourself sliding often. This is where I think they lack. The padding is fine, but it's the placement that fails. The highest pad wraps around the waist a little bit, and just kisses the outside edge of your bum. It needs to extend about an inch and a half farther, and probably down an inch or two. I had one hard slide this fall, and got a raspberry right about where the cheek meets the leg. Right where the padding stops. I was taught to slide on my butt, but if you find yourself sliding mostly on your side, they might work better for you.
So to recap. Look cool. Comfortable minus slightly tight waist. Poor cup holdage. Padding needs more coverage.
These fit comfortably and endure the wear and tear of a high school baseball player. Under Armor doesn't disappoint. Fits well as described.
