After a month of use, the rubbery portions have already started to peel from the gloves. It is a highly disappointing aspect on what would otherwise be a great pair of gloves.
I really love these gloves, so much that I wore them out after about five years of use, I just reordered another pair. They are super light weight. I can drop them in my coat pocket or camera bag without taking up any space. They are always there just in case there is a cold snap, a bit of rain, or it gets windy. The best part, I can operate every single function on my camera with these gloves on. I can feel the controls and the little patches of grippy stuff on them gives me positive hold on those controls. From changing lenses to dialing in shutter speeds to pushing the miniscule depth of field preview button - I can do it all with these gloves on.
When I'm out in colder weather, these are fantastic inside the type of glove where the finger tips flip back. That way I can warm my hands up inside the mittens or gloves flip back the fingers and operate my camera. These glove liners protect my hands just the right amount when it's time to operate my camera.
As a hand warmer, they are great in weather down to about the high thirties or low forties.
There is an added bonus with these gloves - the back of the index finger and thumb are terry cloth. This is for, according to the cardboard these gloves are attached to, your nose. Guess what, they work really well for that.
Then I found them again and this time I tried them on.
I was pleasantly surprised.
These gloves fit exceedingly well for my hands, and they have a bit of stretch in them so I imagine they fit a range of hands.
They are the perfect driving gloves.
These gloves will protect your hands well in temperatures in the 40f to 20f region and are a great defense against wind.
They will not overheat your hands.
Most importantly, they do not affect your grip!
Most gloves I've used, and I've tried many types, thicknesses and different purpose gloves, well most gloves compromise your grip. Most gloves are awful to steer with.
These gloves are minute in the pocket, so you don't have a dumb looking bulge, they fit like new skin and help you maintain control and grip strength.
The terry spots are ideal. When you're cold or exerting yourself (At least for me) my eyes will start to water or my nose will water a little bit, and the terry on the back of the thumb allows you to wipe that away with out having to use your fingers (which are usually the dirtier parts of a glove because they and the palms are what you touch everything with) I found it very useful.
Then in really cold weather, these will go under any glove. Maybe not another liner type glove that fits tight, but maybe!
I've used these under snow gloves or leather "driving gloves" and the effect is nice. It further insulates your hands, and when you need your fingers and your finger dexterity you can pull of the gloves you have over these and your hands are still protected, yet much more nimble than with regular gloves.
I loved these gloves. Kept them with me at all times and used them so often that I eventually lost them.
I just ordered another pair.
The only reason I didn't rate 5 stars is because I don't care for the rubbery grips on the gloves. They tend to grab onto steering wheels, which can make turning difficult. The grips on the fingertips also aren't that durable, and most have fallen off at this point from regular use.
I won't be returning these gloves simply because they are very comfortable and warm, and work on a screen if I really want them to. The snot wipe on the thumb/pointer is also very handy.
One other thing - I have a smooth smartphone and just had it slip out of my hands with my previous pair of gloves. These gloves have the mentioned rubber pattern on the palm, making it impossible for anything to slip out of your grip. It gives you an incredible amount of confidence pulling a "fragile" smartphone out of your pocket.
