The bad: these socks are awful quality. The photo attached shows the pilling and loose threads after wearing ONE day in new shoes and only walking. Every one of the socks looks like this after wearing once. I took this picture a month ago and have been waiting to post a review to make sure I had given them a good try. I've now had these for a month, and the socks that I've worn 3-4 times look even worse.
I'll be surprised if these will last more than 3-6 months before holes develop and they fall apart.
I do not recommend purchasing these. I regret spending money on them. There are plenty of other black ankle socks on Amazon - keep looking!
Unfortunately, I brought these socks as my only casual socks for a trip and I was embarrassed to have done so. On the first wear, the stitching on the bottom started to come apart. Not just on one pair, but every pair I wore was the same. It was particularly embarrassing to have been shoe shopping only to notice long loose threads on my feet with the sales assistant watching me.
For what its worth, I did keep the socks because I didn't have other options, but that's the only reason. Would not recommend.
Just one time through the washer and dryer, and my socks started to look like fuzzy socks. Not a good indicator of quality, if you ask me.
Also, I noticed that these socks make my feet smell. I tested this over multiple workdays, with different shoe and sock combinations. Every time that my feet stunk at the end of the day, I was wearing these socks. (I'm thinking this might have to do with them deteriorating and becoming "fuzzy", giving the smell-producing bacteria more places to live.)
For $22, I am extremely disappointed. The equivalent no-show socks by Dickies are only $14, and while I've only purchased and reviewed their other sock styles, I am confident that those will be better socks.
However, they were advertised as "no show" socks and I even recently bought Under Armor shoes and they definitely show. I personally do not care about that in the slightest but thought I should mention it. It seems weird they advertise it that way but then it is not the case..
Anyway my only fault with the product is that these socks are THICC. Like these aren't cheap socks at all they feel luxurious but are quite thick in the shoes. I'm assuming this will be great once I start running since it should help absorb the impact, but otherwise it makes shoes feel a little tight. That's my only complaint with an otherwise high-quality product.
Update: I don't know what in the world people are doing to them but I have had and washed them multiple times for months since I bought them and they have fared fine. You could maybe wash them inside out but I don't particularly do that and they have been fine.
I separate white laundry from colors, are people being lazy and forgetting to do so? Don't blame the product...
What I hated? Extremely poor quality. I put them on fifteen minutes ago and walked down the hall to tuck my son into bed. This pair is so pilled already, I don't know if I can return them. I am basically a women's 11. I purchased size Large, supposed to accommodate up to Men's size 12.5. That would be equal to a Women's 13.5, these are too short and too narrow. Wider feet especially be cautious.
I would like to return these and I hate to return these, but they are just lousy enough to bother to deal with it and try and get my $ back. I tried selecting return, the toggle won't let me despite the fact that it says eligible for returns up til March 4. Socks have one job and these can't do it!
Must have been a quality/control issue somewhere.
