It's been five years since the devastating events at the end of book one. Mark and Lara thought they were lost to each other. When they meet again on a passenger train traveling through dangerous winter on the Alaska route, they both have to set aside their motives for being there and spend the time they have reuniting. When Mark wakes to find Lara gone and a dead body left behind it puts his career as a detective in jeopardy.
This is just the beginning of a journey of filled with the chase, discovery of secrets and past crimes, and rediscovering love.
That's about all I can say in regards to the story for the sake of spoilers. Told in dual POV. This story ends but Molly's story continues in Hit Girl: A Bright Lights Novel. Enjoy!
There is the perfect combination of intrigue and romance as Mark maintains his patience even when he is frustrated as all hell at the woman he loves and her penchant for running to protect those she cares for. But I was over the top thrilled that he never let her find a way to avoid being together, finally getting her to see that they are better and more effective in her painful quest, together than apart.
Mark and Lana have such chemistry, holy moly their sexy trysts practically melted my Kindle. And what makes it all the more special is that for the past 8 years, they have loved each other both from afar and together and it was more than wonderful to know that that feeling never died. Mark IS a true hero, being so smart and decisive, his detective training giving him that edge to figure their next steps. With his Lana and her street-smart intuition and savvy way about her, they make one formidable team. The ever loyal Roland and a few surprise assists from long-forgotten colleagues and friends add the right amount of support just when our couple needs it most. The introduction of Joshua who is clearly smitten with Molly was the perfect addition to this story and I look forward to hearing more from them in the next book.
If you are looking for an oft times heart-stopping adventure filled with glorious amounts of true love and devotion, then pick up this duet. You must start with Under the Lights to get the entire story of lost teenagers who find their road to redemption and satisfaction as they struggle to survive among the vile underworld of New Orleans. It is well-written and wildly riveting. With the right dose of passion along the way, Under the Stars is a huge 5+ stars winner!
Tia Louise is one of today's best story tellers and this series puts her at the top with Nora Roberts and other like authors. I would love to see a movie coming!!
Now, to Under the Stars. This is the conclusion of the series and what a roller coaster ride it was from start to finish. Lara, Mark and Molly are still twisted in the dark world of revenge and redemption. So many questions still remain unanswered and no one can rest until ghosts and the living give up their secrets.
I've loved all the well written main characters and supporting characters of this story. I've felt their emotions deeply and followed them through some horrific trauma in their lives.
While this series is dark, it has it's beauty and a beautiful love story with Mark and Lara. I so loved the ending!!! Mark is a white knight in the best sense and Lara truly his damsel in distress. Its not a fairytale, but I'd put this story up as one of the best written and told that I've read in a long time - if ever.
I was given an ARC of this book and my thoughts are my own.
When I finished Under the Lights I was like crazy, I need to know more about the story.
When finally I had the chance to read Under the stars? I didn’t get any sleep. This book reminds me to a movie. But Tia Louise made it in a perfect way, i was like am i reading a romance or a thriller? It was a mix of both and more.
My heart was beating so hard and ached so much! The tears I’ve shared? Omg!!! It was a very intense story.
Tía Louise is the perfect combination and result of a good author. An author that can make you feel like so many emotions? Just grab her and never let her go!
Mark and Lara were so special and omg!!! Get ready to read incredible twist! Oh god! I still can’t believe it all the things that I read! I want more! Gosh! This duet definitely goes to my fav of this year and it’s only January!
This is romantic suspense at its best. Seriously, the book kept me on the edge of my seat. I won't give away anything here, just know that Tia Louise has a gift for giving her readers a dramatic, well-written story every single time.
Lara is one of the most driven and strong heroines I've read recently. She is amazing. And Mark...He's a keeper. From the start, he's determined to protect and love Lara, no matter what. I loved seeing their relationship unfold.
I can't wait for Molly and Joshua's story--I need everyone to have a HEA!
