I love books where the characters are so well written that you feel like you want to live in their world.
Ashley has a great job, and loving family and friends. She is engaged to Steven, who puts his work first.
When they attend a work party, his workmate Victoria, the ice queen, makes it very clear that she is not welcome and steals Steven away and has her stepbrother tasked to watch her and keep her entertained.
Jason Baine, is a billionaire security adviser, who wants to reveal his stepsister fraudulent activities in his grandfather's company. He is extremity attractive and knows what he wants and Ashley is now on his radar.
Victoria, has schemed her whole life. She believes that sex is the answer to everything. She uses it as a weapon to get what she wants.
When Jason asks Ashley to help him prove that Steven and Victoria are involved in a insider trading scheme and each other, she agrees to go undercoverand help find the information they need to take them down.
As the attraction grows between Jason and her, they both have to learn to trust their feelings, and not get burned between the sheets.
I love how this story is developed and so well written.
Well done Lucy Score.
In this day and age, that seems to be quite unusual. It also seems to me that engagements happen because of lease agreements and convenience rather than committing yourself to the best man or woman for you. Sure, there can be ups and downs from not living together before marriage, but, there seems to be way more ups and downs from couples expecting change when they get married. Why would you expect the person who is messy while engaged, all of a sudden become clean and considerate after the marriage vows? Also, a fiance with a wandering eye probably still has a wandering eye after the ring's on his finger...ALCOHOL IS NOT AN EXCUSE!!
Sorry, now that I have that off my chest...
I really enjoyed reading Undercover Love and read it in one sitting. The characters were interesting, the storyline kept me captivated and the hero was HOT!!! Lucy Score tells a great story. I loved that while she brought things that would normally have me running for the hills, she still managed to keep me captivated. Yes, there were a few eye-twitches, but a quick scan ahead put my mind at ease that Ms Score...just wouldn't go there.
While I really enjoyed this story, I have to admit that I thought the heroine was a bit of a twit. How could she be so oblivious to her fiance's faults and settle for such a lack-lustre relationship? I couldn't even understand the couple's original attraction and chemistry. It seemed impossible to believe that she could have ever loved him, especially considering her friends and family detested him.
Undercover Love was a great story that left me completely satisfied. Yes, I stumbled a few times but it never went past my boundaries of acceptance. There were a few moments towards the end where I questioned my undying loyalty towards the hero, but it was all OK in the end. He is just an awesome bloke...who happens to have money, good looks, is considerate in the bedroom, and a very nice cabin. A little *Fairy-Tale Prince* but who doesn't love a dashing and devoted hero? At least he wasn't perfect...
I definitely recommend Undercover Love if you haven't read it before in the older versions.
****The covers of the older versions are on Goodreads, and I think one version may have even been called something different.****
Ashley is smart and driven but she finds herself left out thanks to her fiance, Steven, a major jerk.
During a cocktail party Ashley meets tall, dark, handsome, and unbelievably wealthy Jason. He is the half brother to Victoria, a woman who is a ruthless, lying, stealing, blackmailing slut. Victoria has grabbed onto Steven and has convinced him to do illegal things to aid the two of them supposedly leaving their workplace, owned by her grandfather by marriage. They want to move on to bigger and better things...leaving her family business behind and the family would be oh-so-happy for her to be gone. She has kept her job, so far, by blackmail.
After Jason and Ashley become acquainted and Ashley spies what's going on upstairs at the cocktail party including her fiance, Steven, and Victoria, the skank, she agrees to help Jason and his grandfather discover enough information like insider trading...for lack of a better word...to bring legal ramifications to Victoria and Steven.
I highly recommend this book. The love story was so sweet between Jason and Ashley was so incredibly sweet!

The heroine, Ash , is not happy in her relationship with her fiance, Steve. He is increasingly focused on work and his co worker Victoria. Ashley becomes involved with Victoria's step brother ,Jason. Steve is an ignorant cheater who seems to have an entirely different persona to the one she was first attracted to. Victoria is nasty. Spiteful, bitchy and malevolent. Jason is a multi millionaire who wants Ash from the start. She cheats on Steve with Jason but it's ok because Steve is already cheating on her and now she is investigating him for insider trading on Jason's behalf. Huh.
Things I did like....The banter/ relationships Ash had with her neighbours and colleagues. The build between her and Jason was nice. He clearly falls hard for her. I just wanted her to have split with Steve before being with Jason.
Victoria was almost too heinous to believe. I did cheer in my head when Ash smashed her nose though!
Overall, was an ok read.
Cheating? Not between Jason & Ash but Ash & her fiance cheat on each other.
Sensitive subjects? No.
Ashley finds herself at Victoria's cocktail party where she meets Victoria's stepbrother Jason, now Jason literally takes her breath away, talk about an Adonis, but since he's related to Victoria she really should keep her distance.
Jason wants Ashley's help but can she trust him, what's in it for him, where will it leave her and the more time they spend together the more her feelings towards him grow but does he feel the same or is she just a means to an end.
This is a lovely entertaining little read, more than just a romance, I loved the main characters and the neighbours, well all the characters really apart from one which was a little OTT for me, a bit too much of a cartoon baddie for my liking but it's still a great read.
At 98% in you'll get a page which simply says THE END keep going the epilogue is after this.
This book felt like it was written by a totally different author who'd experienced her prime in the middle of a prior century-the vocabulary and descriptive language were telling!
When giving a review I only know if I like a book or not. Also I give said review immediately after I've finished the book.
This book is reminiscent of early Mills and Boon stuff-dull and boring with correlation to real life.
Hope this author perseveres and builds on her other book that I mentioned.
Authors really need to take note that the "I'm an orphan and met a rich man, who I don't want anything from" is now so OLD. This book proves an original story can be written without the cliched backdrop.
