This book could cause TIGGERS for some. If you find you are that kind of person, i think you might want to go to another book. But if you are checking this book out - then you have obvs. read the 1st book and you already know what you are getting into - SO GO FOR IT!!!
I did not give Underestimated a good “Star Rating.” HOWEVER, I did give it a nice healthy review (on Goodreads). Basically, I loved the first 50% -60% of the book. The flashbacks, HEAVY domestic violence, the DARK past of Morgan’s life with Drew, how she was trying to build a new life, her constant fear of being found, the car crash, the life back with Drew, the evolution of their relationship, the SEX, the TRUTH! ALL OF THAT, I LOVED! So this book… had ALL OF THAT! Squeal.
We pick up on Morgan & Drew’s life and see right away there is some serious trouble and apparently the OLD DREW is back.
All the hang ups I had about the first book (the drawn out love triangle, forgiving her ma too quickly, etc.) wasn’t here…I didn’t have to deal with any of it. For me this book was perfect, but I like dark reads. And I would for sure classify this as a dark read (the domestic violence alone! – holy s***!). I loved hearing it all from Drew’s POV. I thought the way the author laid the book out was great – having them go to a couple’s psychologist and give us flashbacks (this author is the Queen of flashbacks!) – Genius! Yes, Drew is wife beater, yes he is an controlling Alpha Male in a really, really bad way…but through the magic of words the author carefully used, we grew to love him more (if that’s possible) and (GULP) understand him and the love his love for Morgan (because at the end of the day – you cannot say Drew did not love Morgan). This is the best way to explain how much I loved this book – I want to re-read Underestimated (knowing I HATED the last portion of that book) and then reread Underestimated Too all over again!
Thank you Mrs. Woodruff for doing this series right (IMO) and bringing back a fan!
Well first I want to say that i have read several of jetties books & they were all amazing. She is a phenominal writer & in this book like theothers keeps you 100% engaged with her words. My problem wasnt with her words per say but with the entire story!
I had NO idea this story was gonna be about an (physical & mental)abusive man who was glorified by not only the writer in my opinion but also 100% by his wife whom he was abusing. In book one (not that it made it better) his abuse was for a purpose, he was mysterious & when he figured out he loved her he stopped. This book though is ALL just a book about a man beating, controlling & verbally abusing his wife, alot of times in front of their child. I have read litrally tons of erotic/bdsm books & i LOVE them. I love spankings, whips, alpha males, dominants, bdsm! THIS was not that! This was a man who hit his wife if she talked back, even in front of a freakin baby, a man who went through her phone, put a trackinh device on her, checked her mileage, phone records, dictated her friends, fam, etc. This wasnt an erotica bdsm sexy book unless u call him beating her & then them having sex hot! & not the sexy kind of "beating"! But the WORST part of the entire book was listening to HER ignorance! She babied him EVERYTIME after he beat her.. Telling him it was "okay", "normal", he did nothing wrong! She was worse than him! Care about your kid more than your vagina you idiot ! As long as he had sex with herafter she was good! I cant really talk about it anymore i was expecting a sexy bdsm book, but inhad to skim through most pages bc i was so disgusted!
Just go into this knowing wat your getting into! A story ofan abusive man & i coulda been ok maybe if shed finally left him, stood up for herself & made him grovel but NOPE! He LEFTHER & guess who was begging & crying for him to return saying he was fine& did nothin wrong ! Ugh ! Sorry but this was not for me, def not wat i call sexy! I lovedbook 1 but this was sick!
I was a bit skeptical to read this book because I wasn't sure how she could tell the same story but I should have never doubted Jettie.
This book picks up where the first one left off and though it is told solely from Morgan's POV we finally get a glimpse into Drew's mind and wow. I found myself hating Drew then loving Drew in the 1st book, then back to hating him and then loving him all over again once I learned of his past and why he is the way he is.
This is truly the story of two emotionally damaged people trying to find safety, love and understanding in each others arms.
This is not the prettiest love story so don't expect all hearts and flowers but it is so worth the read. There wasn't a second in this book that I wasn't completely enthralled with it.
I tip my hat to Jettie once again for another amazing book.
Read it. Period. That is all. :)
I’m so glad that we get to have both sides to the story. I loved Drew’s POV. I feel like I got to know him and understand him better now. The things he’s done to Morgan are still as horrific as we read about in the first book, that won’t change. And yes, I hate him for that. BUT DAMMIT, he softened my heart and I fell in love with him too!
I felt just as confused as Morgan did. You ask yourself ‘But how can I love him knowing what he’s done?’ You just can’t help it. He has that soft side to him that tugs at your heart. Then there’s that hot as f**k kinky s*x that blows your f*****g mind and gives you multiple bookgasms…repeatedly!
If you thought the first book was dark, and I assure you it was not a chocolate and roses story, this is definitely the next level. This is Drew’s story and you don’t want to miss this. Highly recommended!
