Underground Resistance starts close to where Underground Magic left off. Magic is still banned by an authoritarian regime. Lawrence Kincade is still on the run, still the leader of the resistance, but her enemies are growing in numbers and power.
The man she loves is held in thrall by her most powerful enemy and then there's the despair of continuously battling the good fight, but losing battle after battle.
A chance encounter sets Lawrence on an unusual path. Defeat her enemies through sacrifice. She may win the war, but the personal cost will be high.
I have to say, Lawrence is one of my favorite witches in the PNR/UF world. I love the way Larry draws on historical parallels and uses them in her work.
I can't wait for the next one.
I don't understand what the author is trying to do here. The story starts becoming really messy to the point where I cannot suspend my disbelief on the stupid plans that the heroes have to save the world
I give up on trying to understand the direction this story is taking where no ones motivations and the world building doesn't make sense.
The heroine leader of the resistance turns herself in to spy on the mayor to obtain blackmail information on the party. Why didn't she just take out the major or organize the resistance to fight back-because no one wants her too and they don't think they can win.
Her enemies include the shifters, the party, the pure, the witches, and even before her love was ordered to kill her kept betraying her for no reason.
The only reason the party of the pure is in power is because the witches are helping them---really and not just one or two powerful evil witches.
Her so called best friend Aubrey who in the previous book turned in the entire underground because they weren't going to win.
They should've been working together to overthrow the party, but instead they were doing the party's work for them by trying to kill each other
