About the Author

Paul Wilkinson is the Associate Minister at Hazel Grove Full Gospel Church in Stockport, England. He holds a BSc in Mathematics from York, and a BA, MA, and PhD in Theology from Manchester. He is an international conference speaker, writer, and contributor to Christian television, radio, and documentaries. He has studied and lectured at the International School of Holocaust Studies at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem, and is a recognized authority on “Christian Palestinianism.” --This text refers to the paperback edition.

As one within the circle of Plymouth Brethren, it is amazing to read a work by one outside that circle who actually "gets it." Having read several of the pernicious attacks against JN Darby, it was refreshing to see someone who invested the time and effort to carefully understand what PB teaching is about and present it fairly and cogently.
As one who loves the Jews and the nation of Isreal, I was greatly moved by getting a much more thorough understanding of the history of Christian Zionism. It was as if I could sit in the great debate halls or in dining rooms where conversations with the principals took place.
I learned a great deal but am thankful nothing to unlearn or revise. The bedrock of truth has only been more exposed to fashion deeper ties and promote stability in my soul. Thank you Paul for this outstanding work.

It also provides a much-needed response to the standard attacks against Dispensationalism and J.N. Darby which come from those who have only superficially examined the history of both. I highly recommend the book for anyone seeking to investigate further the origins of Christian Zionism and early Dispensationalism.

Excellent book well worth reading (slowly). It is what I have always believed ( Nobody taught me this , I studied Gods Word and came to exactly the same viewpoint).
It is a shame people nowadays listen to what 'man' says, and accept it without "testing" from The Word. Which is what Scripture tells us to do.

The book is exactly what I expected it to be. A defence of so called 'Christian Zionism'. The book is, however, just as much about a defence of J.N. Derby's doctrines. As such it is typical of it's time, but the fundamentals of his doctrine are fatally flawed from the outset. A nievity in confusing political Zionism with Biblical Zionism is evident from the outset and endemic of his tendency to refuse to look, even slightly below the surface at the contradictions caused by his (Derby) lack of firm Biblical foundation and calls into disrepute his other doctrines and displays why they are so contentious among serious biblical scholars.
If I could I would give the book four out of ten because it was mostly what I expected, but Derby One out of Ten for his theology.
