Not My Thing
My mother gave us a collection of Todd Parr books for my son's second birthday. They're really not our style, I get kind of upset by them. I prepared photos of the logically inconsistent message between different volumes, but it appears Amazon will not let me add a customer image to this review. Do's and Don'ts (not a fan of that punctuation) says "Don't put food in your hair" but The Okay Book says "It's okay to put a fish in your hair". It's Okay Book says it's okay to wear what you like, but Do's and Don'ts shows that if you wear your dad's pajamas to school a pair of girls will laugh at you. Oh well, it's just a child's book, but it's not a set I would have chosen myself.

A board book for tiny Todd Parr fans that has become a favorite for my toddler nephew. It's also frequently borrowed by his 4.5 year old sister. As with other Parr volumes this one is colorfully illustrated. As always the words he choose resonate uncannily with little ones. (How does he know that "underwear" is an inherently funny kids' word? Or that the idea of brushing teeth with peanut butter would be such a howl?) There's always something to learn in the Parr books and this one is no different. It reinforces the concepts of right and wrong behavior without ever preaching and -- best of all -- encourages kids to look to books for fun.

Along with the 'that's not my x' these are some of the best first books around. Our son loves the simple high contrast images. This one is actually a little funny and our son loves to sit on the floor and flip through the pages.

Our son is a bit of a bruiser and the spine on these books have held up well.

I am the mother of 4 year old twins who LOVE, did I say LOVE, all of Todd Parr's books. We owned a number of his books before I purchased this one on my Kindle Fire and my girls are tremendously happy to have a new way to read their Todd Parr books. I think Todd is an amzing children's author who focuses on all positive parts of life - family, relationships, good manners, being different, respecting the earth and most of all loving yourself just the way you are. And on top of it all his books are beautifully illustrated in a kid-like way. Really, the Todd Parr experience is a whole big ball of FUN!!

For children, underwear is funny. I think many would find this book funny, too. The dos and don'ts are, of course, goofy (like "Do put your clean underwear away, but don't put it in the freezer"). It has big bright pictures to illustrate each do and don't. To get a giggle out of child, it is hard to go wrong with a book about underwear (just saying the word is sometimes enough). If your preschooler enjoys silly books, then DO buy this one, but DON'T be mad at me if your child does not like it (children are difficult to predict sometimes and who knows your child better than you?).

I was at the doctor's office with my little girl's when my little girl seen this book on the floor she was looking at it for about 5 min when this lady run's in the office and said Oh thank god there's his book. She looked and my little girl and said can I have my book and my little girl said yes. At this time I was thinking what was so good about this book that it had someones mom looking for it. So I got it and let me tell you if I was that lady I would have been doing the same thing LOL I love it I love all his books A+++++

Out of Todd Parr's books this one is probably my least favorite. I feel like most of his books give positive messages, but this one is just silly (which is totally fine for a toddler book, but just not what I was expecting from this author).
The quality of the board book is great, and the right size for travelling.

This looks like a very sweet and cute book. I have not read it.

My grandson borrowed it from the Alvarado public library and lost it. They were threatening to file criminal charges on him for an overdue library book so I simply replaced the book. This has probably taught him to stay away from the public library. Is that the new message public libraries are hoping to send to our youth?

This book arrived as promised in time to thwart any notions the library had about filing charges on my grandson.

This book is hilarious. My toddler doesn't really get why some of the pages are funny yet but this is one of my favourites to read.

4.0 out of 5 stars

Put it in the freezer「いけないこと それを冷凍庫にしまうこと」
Todd Parrの絵本はシンプルなのに、子供の表情が的確に表され、ひねりのきいた文がおもしろいのですが・・・。
いかんせん、教室で読み聞かせに使うには、15センチちょっとの正方形という大きさが、小さすぎて、★4つです。
