"...a unique intriguing, and entertaining story. I really like the way Dan Sofer describes his flawed characters who also seem complex and complicated... the individuals, family, community, Jewish traditions, friends and hope. I also enjoyed the satire of their adventures. I would highly recommend this entertaining book and hope to read more in this series." - Linda's Book Obsession
Excuse my staggering there just now. I admit I'm a bit wobbly and out of whack after reading Dan Sofer's book.Truly, I don't recall ever having a reading experience like this one, which opens with a dead guy finding himself naked on the Mount of Olives... Will he be able to get his life back?Every hour of every day brings turns and twists. It's hard to put the book down in anticipation of what happens next to Moshe Karlin and his unexpected 'soulmates'... The results are fascinating. If you aren't already running to get a copy of this extraordinary reading experience, then I have done you an injustice. But I'm still not giving the plot away. No more spoilers. You've got to read it to see for yourself. - ESRA Magazine

Although I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book, I chose to purchase a copy to show support for this talented author.
An Unexpected Afterlife starts with Moshe Karlin waking up naked in the Mount of Olives Cemetery. When he goes home, he finds out that he's been dead for 2 years and his "best friend" has stepped in to take over his life. When he finds a woman in the same situation, they realize that something big is happening...but what? His rabbi believes that it's a sign of the Resurrection. Moshe just wants his life back.
Eli Katz is a prophet and is preparing to let the world know that redemption is here when he's in a terrible accident. A well-meaning woman tries to convince him that he's not Elijah but a confused man who just needs some direction. Will she succeed? And what will this cause in the long run?
This first book in the series The Dry Bones Society is original and creative. I never knew what to expect and Moshe turns out to be a hero for those who have returned from the dead. How many will there be and what in the world is going on? Although I'm happy with the ending of the first book, there are questions that the next book will hopefully answer. I'm looking forward to reading it!
I have now read all of his offerings and cannot wait for his next book.
I received an advanced copy in return for an honest review. In fact the book is so good that I am purchasing it too- to help support Dan's endeavours!
There were many unexpected twists and turns and the ending is exciting to me!
I encourage everyone to read all his books. You will not regret it.
Now my problem is that I need the sequel - now!
