Where to start? **Contains Spoilers**

I started this book having only read one HS book in the past (Axel). I liked the book at first and was drawn in. Dani and Cohens first night together was where it started to go downhill for me.

1. Dani, the innocent virgin, was apparently a porn star in another life. The surprise pregnancy after her first time every AND with a condom just made me roll my eyes. The first time when he returns after seven months of being gone I expected a love scene. Instead he has her holds her boobs together for him so he can pleasure himself followed by them having anal sex while she's 7 months pregnant. Most of the sex scenes actually repulsed me. After the book was over I felt like I really knew nothing of them as a couple other than their sexual relationship.

2. I love a good alpha male. But Axel? His character was turned into a growling, stomping, angry caveman. The scene where he refuses to let her go to her SENIOR prom after her date has arrived to pick her up is just ridiculous. And then the poor girl had to SNEAK to move her stuff out of her parents house when she's 21 years old. It was just SO over the top. I couldn't stand him by the end of the book.

3. Since when can you tell the military "Hey guys, sorry, my girlfriend is pregnant. You'll have to count me out of any further missions."??? I've never been in the military, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't work like that.

4. This book was like the ultimate modern romance cliché. Boy and girl love each other since childhood, hold back their feelings, finally get together, the accidental pregnancy, of course the guy is thrilled, the surprise "I just bought our "family" a house, and the fairy tale wedding.

I couldn't wait for this book, only to be sad that the storyline was a copy off of all the other corps security books... I still can't figure out how these highly trained men, who can save the world, can never save there women... at least not at first... top that with the fact that Danni is a virgin porn star, and after Cohen is gone 7 months and they've only had sex one time.... he decides to re acquaint himself by having anal???? Never mind the fact the man has 4 cock rings he's jamming up there.... I mean really???? We're was the sweetness?? It was like Alpha gone bad!

We loved him as a boy but fell in love with the man he became. Honest, loving, dirty talking, possessive alpha male. Dani is an amazing character and together they are fantastic. With this spin off you get more from the corps security family we loved including more Sway! I just love Cohen as an adult and wished this book hadn't ended. I need more of their story. Five plus fabulous stars. This book has it all romance, hot sexy times, mystery, family, friends and a chance to see more of the characters we love from Corp security. Harper Sloan is one of my new favorite authors!

I hate that I can not think of anything redeeming but I honestly can not. Seriously juvenile, dysfunctional characters, boring, cheesy dialog, sex scenes written by a 16 year old boy that is under the influence of bad pornography, little to no story line. Skimmed to finish so I could forewarn other potential readers. Maybe it is just me and I have higher expectations but I wish I would have saved a buck and the couple hours of wasted time.

I actually went back and reread Axle after i read this book to try to fugute out if this was even the same author. When you write about a character in a previous book shouldnt there be consistency between the characters. In this book she wrote Axle as a deranged maniac. I was repulsed.

There seems to be a trend lately where a successful series ends, but then the children are grown up having their own stories. The problem with that to me is trying to write in the future and having it be believable. Unfortunately, it usually falls flat, as it did with this book. I really hope we aren't still sending troops to the "sandbox" in twenty years, like Cohen was, but if so, I really believe technology will have progressed to the point that no soldier is ever out of touch for months at a time. More likely, they will all be enhanced with implanted cochlear GPS communicators and scalp cameras, plus fingertip pads that act as keyboards hooked to satellite internet so they can email from anywhere. And I also don't see twenty-somethings watching reruns of a thirty year old TV series. Okay, so I know it's fiction and the book was supposed to be a love story, but even that was off to me. Cohen comes home after being incommunicado for seven months, finds Dani pregnant, jumps to the wrong conclusion, blows up, realizes he's wrong, they make up and have wild sex, OK, but anal? With all the hardware? When she has only been with him once, seven months ago? I know...whatever floats your boat, but it was just a mood killer for me.

Anyway, the book wasn't bad, just not as good as it could have been with a little more development. I have enjoyed the previous books by this author immensely and will certainly continue to do so. I just think this wasn't one of her better works.
