The author uses short, meaningful chapters that can be used as daily devotionals which only take a few minutes to read and a few more minutes for Bible reading and reflection, if desired. Thus it can be spread throughout the year, and can be read again in the coming years. She uses Bible quotes, spiritual poetry, prayers, personal insights and experiences, and a conversational tone to reach out to the reader. Each short chapter ends with a "Mining for Treasure" part with questions and suggested verses from the Bible that amplify the lessons of the chapter. It is possible to be full of joy, despite our circumstances. "The Commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living."- Psalm 19:8.
She brings the Christian experience down to the level of everyday living and experiences. Some of the short chapter highlights are "Personalizing Psalm 23", "Hummingbird Moments", "Don't Take The Risk", "Twisted", "Remember to Tell Them", "True Identity", "Scrubbing Shadows", "Hope For The Hurting", "Don't Give Up", "Messed Up", "He is There", and "The Homecoming". And she also gives advice on fending off attacks by the enemy Satan, the power of prayer and prayer requests, both from and for others. A big suggestion is that of making time each day for prayer, reading the Bible, and for using devotionals such as this book. This is a wonderful book by Lisa Buffaloe that can expand our knowledge of Jesus, the Trinity, help in times of both happiness and sadness, pointing the way to a joyful end of life. This is a Christian, non-denominational book. Highly Recommended! Five CHRISTIAN Stars! (Reviewed in Kindle text format, 252 pages)
Help from discouragement
God's love and your uniqueness
Along with themes that can be used as a daily devotion, each section has a "Mining for treasure" part that will help you reflect on facets discussed with thought provoking questions and insights.
Lisa Buffaloe writes from having endured physical and emotional devastation. She has come through her many challenges redeemed and restored and by God's grace, lives to tell others in this book that no situation is hopeless. Her discoveries came from deep searching and clinging to God with everything she had. Today she has an anointing to reach the hurting and a heartfelt desire that you will know God deeper and fall in love with Him as He is with you. Buffaloe exhorts us with the following: "Joy comes when we remember that nothing is impossible for God and all things will be restored and redeemed in His loving hands. God never wastes a moment of our time, or our pain, so count it all joy!"
Many of the Scriptures she draws upon can be posted as memory verses. You will be challenged to lay at the altar your passions and to trust God for His best in your life. "For as we relinquish control, as we die to self, we gain wings to fly!". In addition to this book, I recommend you take a look at her other books as well as read her weekly blogs to strengthen your Christian walk.
