Willa Peet (19), is convinced she's irreparably damaged. Unfixable. Willa is recovering from a bad break-up that she blames herself for. Willa is hardened and calloused. She's bitter. Very very bitter and basically angry at the world. She's difficult and doesn't have friends nor does she want friends. She doesn't smile. She embraces her flaws and demands control over herself and her destiny. She never allows anyone to get too close to her. Not if she can help it. When she wins a photography contest that takes her to Ireland, she meets and clashes with Shane Claymore...owner of the Inn she's staying at. Shane forces Willa to question herself and she doesn't like that.
Shane (how old is he again??)...is tall with stormy blue eyes and dark brown hair and he's tied down to caring for his dysfunctional family when he'd rather be pursuing his racing career. I loved his arrogance and mystery. Just his whole alpha male domineering character was what really drew me in to this story.
I loved how this author doesn't allow the attraction of Willa and Shane to overpower the storyline. I loved the incredibly, excruciatingly slow and gradual build-up to the first intimate moment between Shane and Willa. Wonderfully told with just enough detail. Brilliant story of life's struggles and emotional healing. And told in such a way as not to be depressing. Brilliant and definitely worth the time to read.
Willa and Shane can’t stand each other at first. Is there anything better than that sort of hate/love relationship. I love when feelings start to develop after not getting along at all.
As Willa grows closer to Shane, his sister Faith, and even their wacky mom Kitty, she lets her guard down. For the first time, not counting Ginger and Derek, she lets people in. She lets Shane in. Shane. Shane and that accent. That snarky yet sweet man. Shane who has dreams of being a famous race car driver (and he’s very successful) but is stuck in a hard place needing to help his family. I loved Shane. He made me smile, made me laugh, at times made me infuriated yet always seemed to make me hot and bothered.
Willa was a great heroine, even if she did frustrate me at times. I was happy to see that eventually, she could take some good advice when given.
Unfixable is a fresh, fun, short and sexy read with just the perfect amount of drama and angst. I enjoy Tessa Bailey’s writing style and I can’t wait to read more of her stuff! If I’m looking for something steamy and easy to read, she is a go to author!
