Lord has for us all into her books,,,,the scripture woven into every chapter, bringing the bible to life and the word into every life of her characters. As I read I feel closer to God myself, seeing my own life trials the peaks and the valleys, the joys and sorrows,,,,and through it all,,,,see that the Lord reveals himself to us if we but invite him into our hearts, believe, and feel his undying love. Thank you Kristen for continuing this wonderful story, and for helping me see the good Lord in my own broken life.
Lance Michelli went to Sonoma to uncover some secrets his Nonna Antonia wanted to know the answers to. She wanted him to find her Nonno’s body and bury it correctly. She wanted him to find out who killed her father. He willingly went to satisfy his Nonna and to take himself out of a rut at home. What he didn’t figure on was Rese Barnett. She had a deed to the house as did he. Whose deed was the official one? Now he has returned home to tell Nonna what he found out and to tell her how the property was to be used. Instead, she doesn’t seem to want to listen to what he found out, other than he had buried Nonno, and she now wants him to do something else. Where will this lead?
Rese Barnett is a wood carver. She can remodel homes and do regular woodworking, but she is best at adding the touches that make the woodwork special. She has a deed to the property and plans to make it into a bed and breakfast. She is dealing with finding out her mother is still alive but in a mental hospital and not being there when her father cut himself while working and died. She isn’t the most social of women but once she knows you, she is a different person. Now she has come to New York with Lance and is meeting his family. How can she fit in? Does she even want to?
Will what Nonna wants Lance to do change everything in his life and the lives of his family? Will it be dangerous? Will Rese ever decide to marry him? What part does Star play this time? It is an interesting book to say the least. Parts of the time in New York get a little boring but that was his life and in reality, sometime your life does get boring and you get in a rut. It is a very realistic book.
Now "The Michelli Family" -Secret, Unforgotten-I am starting on Echoes.
I decided to write this review now.If you are looking for a good Christian Story, This is the one to start with. My opinion.
Kristen Heitzmann's stories, covering generations of this family is heart-warming, history revealed, faith abound.
Familiar and comforting Bible Verses, written with reverence.
I laughed out loud when Lance took Nonna Antonia to the bank. The young man was doing his job, but Nonna's discomfort and lack of speech, that HE understood-and Lance's translations-I knew better what she was saying. I grew-up beside a large family of Italians, their house was 'way more fun' then mine, lots of drama etc.
Stoke Victims recoveries are all different, but Nonna's was pretty good (the blanks were filled-in by Lance). LOL
The preparing of good food, sharing was right and normal for this family, I enjoyed re-living my experiences with my neighboring family thru these stories. Thank you!
Rese's life was completely different. She handled it better than most. I liked her character and her life experiences. Even when she was hurting over Lance, she did the right thing.
Lance was true to his family. Even though he could loose Rene's love over what he had to do for his Nonna.
I am not a good writer of reviews, but I hope this has helped.
