The story of how Julie's daughter Emma regressed into autism brought tears to my eyes. Vivid, sad and haunting. It's the same story told by thousands of other parents, and yet each child is precious, each loss horrible and tragic. The stories have the same elements: our ignorance of the environmental toxins our kids are exposed to, belief in vaccines, the arrogance and complete ignorance of our doctors, and blame of the mother. Attributing Emma's problems to Julie's “anxiety" is classic and wrong.
Julie was able to help her daughter recover from the worst of the autism symptoms, which are after all the result of massive systemic inflammation. So protocols that reduce inflammation, and improve the absorption of nutrients, can have profound effects. Emma still has social deficits, but is present, aware, and can share her life with her family and (rare) friends.
As a result of her daughter's issues, Julie has been part of the autism community for over 10 years and is an expert on autism. She’s worked with some of the key people trying to raise awareness of the autism epidemic: Robert F Kennedy Jr and his work to remove Thimerosal from vaccines; Eric Gladen and his movie Trace Amounts; Dan Olmstead and Mark Blaxill who started the Age of Autism web site.
Her theory is that autism is the result of environmental toxins, especially mercury and aluminum, coupled with the inflammation caused by vaccines. A new book by James Lyons-Weiler, coming out in November, The Environmental and Genetic Causes of Autism, supports her ideas, citing thousands of peer-reviewed scientific studies.
For me, the book was a page-turner; fascinating and compelling. Highly recommended.

Review
An Unfortunate Coincidence perfectly illustrates . . . how a generation of our children was lost to toxins. With thought-provoking honesty, Julie’s memoir brings you to the edge of your emotions as you journey to understand how this could happen to a nation of children and what needs to be done now.” Jenny McCarthy, author, radio host, and philanthropist
"A heartbreaking, brave, and inspiring memoir, this book shows how the perfect storm of toxins can take away our children, plunging them into a world we call autism. Julie Obradovic’s An Unfortunate Coincidence exposes how our children with autism and their families have become the casualties in a misguided and overzealous war against infectious disease. In sharing her story, Obradovic has given the world a gift. I cried while reading it, tears of sadness for all who suffer and for the children who will be needlessly damaged in the future, and tears of happiness that this book may be the game changer we so desperately need." Dr. Paul Thomas, MD, co-author of The Vaccine-Friendly Plan: Dr. Paul's Safe and Effective Approach to Immunity and Health-from Pregnancy Through Your Child's Teen Years
A heart-stopping, exquisitely well-written memoir. An Unfortunate Coincidence should be required reading for every doctor and parent in America. Even if you think you know everything there is to know about autism, this book will teach you something new. I couldn’t put it down.”Jennifer Margulis, PhD, science journalist and author of Your Baby, Your Way: Taking Charge of Your Pregnancy, Childbirth, and Parenting Decisions for a Happier, Healthier Family
Raises questions about some possible causes of autism. . . [and] calls out some prominent doctors for their ties to pharmaceutical companies.” Booklist

As a pediatrician of 30 years, I've seen the autism epidemic first hand. We went from never seeing this in the 1980's when it was 1/10,000 to now everyone knows someone with autism, it is reported to be about 1/50 children in the USA, and sadly too many have the severe regressive type that steals their language, their entire future and leaves these kids in pain and endless suffering, as Julie points out in this amazing book. If you listen to most doctors and mainstream media outlets, you might think autism is rare, and caused by genetics, parental age, and as the title of this book suggests is "An Unfortunate Coincidence".
This book takes the reader on the journey the author was taken on as her child regressed into autism and they fought to regain this child's health. Any parent or future parent should read this as it is very clear what you can do to minimize the chance your child ends up regressing into autism.
There is ample science backing up the ideas Julie Obradovic presents, but this is just one story, their story. She is meticulous in attention to detail and making it clear that this is just what happened, what they learned and as a reasult what you can learn so you don't have to endure the same difficult and largely avoidable health crisis - called autism.

Couldn't put it down! Excellent read. This mother bravely shares the chronicle of her daughter's downturn in health and subsequent diagnosis of regressive autism (the kind that is related to illness, not the already-wired-up-that-way Asperger's brand). Not only that, she tells it like it is when a parent questions a doctor's wisdom in the face of mother- and grandmother-wisdom and evidence to the contrary about a particular child--hers. Caught in a moment in the history of modern medicine that is making so many children in our country sick, she lays out the argument for taking a less aggressive approach to vaccination. Her call-to-action includes honest vigorous safety evaluation of childhood vaccines and shows very clearly why that simply isn't happening and why parents are pushing back against the established public health agencies whose mandate is to protect ALL children. Bravo to Force-of-Nature-Mom Julie Obradovic!

This was a book that I could not put down!!! The author writes beautifully in a relatable way. This is her story of persistence and digging deep to find answers to help her child. Readers glimpse into the the effect autism has on a family, marriage, and every day life. I felt the pangs of hope, frustration, grief, and outrage this mother went through on this roller coaster of a journey. I appreciate the sharing of research and evidence related to the history and proliferation of numbers of autistic children. She is not afraid to mention the studies that have used mathematical tricks to skew data which in turn has created an illusion that jabs should not be questioned. Reports of whistleblowers within our own CDC, and revered drug companies like Merck are called out here but sadly not by any mainstream news sources, who are complicit in the deception by what they refuse to share (conflicts of what is profitable). I learned of many other facts and authors and researchers that I want to explore, so thank you to the author for enlightening me.
As the author states: No one wants to be manipulated or mandated into taking unnecessary risks with our lives especially when there is no accountability for the manufacturers of such products.
This story is hands down a case where medicine should never be one size fits all. Where there is risk, we must have a choice.

I loved this book! I Cried a lot as it was so similar to my own. Recommend for every mother who is or has gone through and watched your child suffer and slip into autism. It is sadly comforting to know we are not alone- a s that our feelings good or bad are pretty normal under these circumstances.
May you all continue to fight hard each and everyday for your child.

Five stars.....brave, articulate, heart breaking, honest. Julie Obradovic is throwing out a warning beacon to all parents to do their own research on vaccination. Emma and her family have suffered horribly at the hands of a corrupt, dangerous and profitable medical procedure. No one should have to endure What they have, I thank you for sharing your story and warning other parents of the dangers.
