From five-time #1 New York Times bestselling author, FOX News star, and radio host Mark R. Levin comes a groundbreaking and enlightening book that shows how the great tradition of the American free press has degenerated into a standardless profession that has squandered the faith and trust of the American public, not through actions of government officials, but through its own abandonment of reportorial integrity and objective journalism.

Unfreedom of the Press is not just another book about the press. Levin shows how those entrusted with news reporting today are destroying freedom of the press from within: “not government oppression or suppression,” he writes, but self-censorship, group-think, bias by omission, and passing off opinion, propaganda, pseudo-events, and outright lies as news.

With the depth of historical background for which his books are renowned, Levin takes the reader on a journey through the early American patriot press, which proudly promoted the principles set forth in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, followed by the early decades of the Republic during which newspapers around the young country were open and transparent about their fierce allegiance to one political party or the other.

It was only at the start of the Progressive Era and the twentieth century that the supposed “objectivity of the press” first surfaced, leaving us where we are today: with a partisan party-press overwhelmingly aligned with a political ideology but hypocritically engaged in a massive untruth as to its real nature.Age range:Adult

PRAISE FOR UNFREEDOM OF THE PRESS

"The most important book of 2019 — and 2020... Mark Levin hits it out of the park every single time. He is the Babe Ruth of freedom. "
The American Spectator

"Levin's finest work."
—Joel Pollak, Breitbart

“Mark Levin trounces the news media.”
–The Washington Times

"Superb and timely...[Unfreedom of the Press] will in the future be an important historical source for this extraordinary period."
—Roger Simon, PJ Media

“Nails it exactly…truer words could not be spoken.”
–Jeffrey Lord, The American Spectator

“For clear-thinking Americans, Levin’s book comes along in the right place, at the right time.”
Craig Shirley, syndicated columnist

PRAISE FOR MARK LEVIN

"Millions have been inspired by Levin to be missionaries for liberty. Levin is too modest to accept the label of hero, but to lead the reawakening of constitutionalism and to shape a mass movement around it is a Herculean feat.… There simply is no comparable mind on the side of the Left."—
Spyridon Mitsotakis, Daily Wire

"Those who only know Mark Levin for his radio program or his Sunday night show on Fox News are missing out on one of conservatism’s best writers. Levin’s books offer detailed, fleshed out renderings of the arguments he makes on his shows. They’re punchy, witty, and easily digestible."
—The Federalist

"I was introduced to Levin when I was a young high schooler who knew and cared little about politics. Until, one day, my friend showed me a video of Mark Levin. That day my life was changed. He persuaded me to dedicate my life to fighting for freedom. In addition to his great work, Mark must be recognized for creating an army of energized freedom fighters that will continue to promote the cause long into the future."
—Elliot Fuchs, Daily Wire

"... [The] Fox News program "Life Liberty & Levin," hosted by Mark Levin ... is more intellectual than anything produced on ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN or MSNBC. Nothing they have on air comes even close."—
Brent Bozell, Media Research Center

“…Mark Levin was officially inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame, and one wonders what took so long. His induction was presented by fellow Hall of Famers Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, and the three figures comprise what can accurately be described as the talk radio 'Mount Rushmore.'"—
Larry O'Connor, The Washington Times

“A warrior of the right of longstanding…simply calling Levin a radio talk show host or a Fox TV host is like calling Nolan Ryan just another pitcher.”
–Craig Shirley, syndicated columnist

Courageous and Outspoken Truths
Thank you, Mr. Levin, for your courageous and outspoken truths concerning our Country against its enemies from within.Recently, you interviewed a Physiatrist, Dr. Bandy X Lee’s about her book, "The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump" written along with her team of 27-physiotherapists condemning President Trump by analyzing his metal stability and fitness to serve as president. Theirs was an obvious attack to justify their beliefs explained by Dr. Lee’s mousy little voice on how they know best. It reminded me of Dr. Ford’s lying testimony. I purchased Lee’s book and left a review, but it was Blocked by you know who. So, here is it again and maybe it will get through this time for your readers to determine what’s fair and just."The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump," by Dr. Bandy X Lee“Their ends will justify their means”“I encourage everyone to read or listen to this book and wake-up because "their ends will justify their means.’”“It’s courageous professionals like yourself that will save the world against insane people. Your book is a red flag warning at the highest levels of government and necessary? You have put up with death threats from “deplorables” and now, you’ll need a “red army” to protect your wellbeing and for the value of these essays. President Xi can do amazing things after he waits out Trump and defeats him because he sees the Media with the same objectives. Xi’s plan will wreak the American economy because the so-called rich elites are dumb people. Xi is no friend of Donald J. Trump and Xi will win with your help because you are a good little Chinese comrade. Is that racist? I don’t believe racism is a metal disorder.”“Chairman Mao and Joseph Stalin successfully used psychiatry and state doctors with specialized training to punish, incarcerate and mass murder their political enemies; and even Hitler used mental justification to enact his “final solution.” They once called themselves humanists (like yourself), democrat & national socialists and the worker’s party. You know best because evil has rid the world of over 100 million deplorables and we’re on the way too, with over 60 million legal abortions and thereby, only killing tissue is your sin of the flesh of not knowing.”“Your hatred isn’t on Trump, it’s on our Country! You would rather tear our country apart, and force us, “We the People” to go along with your dangerous rituals to rebuild America based on your ignorant beliefs and your latent agendas. God won’t allow this to happen no matter how twisted your free-will is.”“Let Trump do his job because he loves this Country and you do not because the “science is settled,” so to speak. Trump is still winning even up against a corrupt Media, the Hollywood sycophants and creeps like yourself that are causing real damages. You would rather pontificate over your narrative instead of telling the truth.” How stupid do you think we are?“Your ego runs rampant without having any ethical standards, moral beliefs or the guts to tell the truth but you would rather insult our intelligence, lead us into your abyss while you attempt to control us by your narrative. You offer nothing, claim you know best through fear mongering and dream up nonessentially hypotheses that are only within God’s divine providence. It’s your jealousy of Trump that precedes you and your hatred will eat at you from within.”“This essay is from a real insane person, like myself, but I would rather be insane than follow your persuasions.”Woke-up America,A reader…

I spent my life as a Plumber. Never, in my life, did I think I was an Intellectual. However, after reading this extremely readable, understandable, and educational book, I can feel like one. In fact, I now know for a fact, after reading Mark Levin's new book, that my intelligence is, in this area, is greater than Assistant Professor Mark Lerner at Marist College, and anyone at NPR radio. This is just a simple fact.

This may be one of the greatest books of our time, dealing with an issue haunting this country, for decades. We hear pundits on TV, telling us that the media is "slated left", some can get honest enough to state what they really are: leftists, who's ideology is in lock-step, with the Progressive/Democratic-Socialist (oxymoron's anyone?), party. They tell us "This is just the way it is". Really? WHY? Are they they only party in this country? NO. So, why is this "Just the way it is"? This should be criminal.

Our Founding Fathers, saw the importance of the Press. They have the power they have, so that they may INFORM Americans, with OUT bias, with OUT their ideology, effecting their reporting, so that, the AMERICAN PEOPLE, can make the BEST decisions they can, no matter their party, or standing in life, for themselves, their families, and for the future, of this great country.

Today, I have hope, once again, that we may just be able to get back to, TRUTH IN JOURNALISM. Mark Levin gives us TRUTH, backed up by FACTS, with all the references you will need, to defend your stance for a FREE and UNBIASED Press.

If you see a one star review? If you see so-called "Professionals", who are attempting to destroy the importance of this book? They are LYING to you. I give you MY WORD. What they are doing, is giving you THEIR biased, ideological OPINIONS. They are NOT based on fact. They are based on EMOTION.

BUY THIS BOOK. If I could give it 6 stars, I would. I stake my reputation as one who attempts to review everything I read, see, or experience, with as much honesty and truth, as I can. I have NO desire, to deceive anyone, for my own ideological or political ends. Ever.

I love my country. I love my countrymen. ALL of them. Even when I disagree with them, I try to respect them, and to understand their point of view. Even when it seems insane to me. I can ALWAYS be wrong. I'm in no way, perfect.

However, in this matter of "UNFREEDOM of the PRESS"? I'm NOT wrong. You will LOVE this book. You will gain immense understanding and insight. I give this book, my HIGHEST Recommendation. BUY THIS BOOK.

In 2012 my husband suffered a catastrophic accident and was rendered a quadriplegic. He had just retired, and I left my job behind in medical sales so that I could take care of him as he needed 24 hour care. As we walked through the valley of darkness during our first year post accident, alone and at home, we turned to 24 hour news coverage , specifically CNN, as a way to pass time and cope with our new reality.
By late 2015/early 2016 when Republican debates were in full swing, we both were drawn to Trump as he displayed the qualities of grit, endurance, and resilience -the same qualities we identified with and embraced, for our survival. One day, unexpectedly, our dog stepped on the tv converter and the channel switched to Fox News. We watched this new channel for awhile and realized that the network we had been watching-CNN-had been feeding us their very slanted, biased, and toxic version of the very man (Trump) who gave us a glimmer of hope that our lives could be better, and that prosperity and happiness were in reach.
But our hopes and dreams of a better tomorrow were being soiled and trampled upon by the main stream media on a daily basis. They were going all out to try and ruin our President’s life, as well as the lives of his supporters, including ourselves. The darkness from which we had emerged, was slowly creeping back in our lives as we couldn’t escape the negative news coverage that was on our tv, in the newspaper, and all over the internet 24 hours a day. Currently we avoid the toxic news sources, and keep our distance from the poisonous MSM when possible (except Fox). I was thrilled when we received our book a few days ago.
I cried as I started reading “Unfreedom of the Press”, because Mark has made sense of the hit job the Press has done on our President, and in turn us and his fellow supporters. The book puts everything in perspective, and sheds light on what was, and what should be (the role of the Press). Mark does an an amazing job sharing historical context and stories, connecting dots, and most of all exposing the failure of the today’s Press. This book has validated what we already suspected, and has been very enlightening.
I highly recommend reading this book. We will be getting the audio version for my husband.

5.0 out of 5 stars The betrayal of public trust
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on June 14, 2019
The free press was once trusted to provide news that was designed to inform the public. Journalists used to be trusted by the majority of us to put out information that was impartial and non-partisan. Where the news was biased, that bias was stated and acknowledged. All that has changed with the advent of the modern media. Large organisations, owned by the very wealthy, now have given up on reporting factual and objective information. Instead, they attempt to indoctrinate the public by pursuing a political agenda and world view that benefits their very rich patrons.
Mark Levin exposes the difference between the largely trusted free press of old, and the modern ‘fake news’ media. Based on his knowledge of the American constitution, he shows how the free press used to keep political excesses in check. It used to be part of the checks and balances that kept politicians honest and served democracy. This regulatory function has all but disappeared with the modern media, which has become the mouthpiece of one political party – the ironically-named, Democratic party.
With a ‘globalist’, anti-Trump agenda, it gives a free pass to Democrats when they engage in nefarious activities, while reporting negatively and even making up dishonest stories about Republicans. The betrayal of trust of the public is vast and undermines the very nature of democracy, where there is a vital need for a free press.

I repeat, DO NOT & I mean DO NOT listen to the terrible reviews on this page. Those people either did NOT read the book at all or never gave it a chance. Mark references and sources ALL of his work. Something a lot of journalist do not do anymore. Most of these negative reviews are probably people who watch FAKE NEWS CNN. This book is fantastic. It’s well written. He exposes a lot of the main issues we are facing with today’s modern news media and journalism as a whole. This book is great for any die-hard conservative like myself. If you are a Republican, a must read!
