I'm not Catholic, but I am a student of feminism. I've tried for years to warn people of its insidious influences. I've attempted to explain that feminism is a communist front movement. It is the ultimate poison to home and family. What this book does so well is link feminism to the occult. It shows how feminism naturally leads women downward into darkness - that is, into Wicca, pagan Gaia earth worship, New Age mysticism, occultism, etc. Feminism has corrupted women and, acting under these destructive influences, women have been used as tools with which to smash apart the traditional Christian fabric of our society. Naturally, this book focuses on feminism's detrimental influence upon the Catholic Church and Catholic institutions, but any Christian will benefit from understanding how feminism works and seeing evidence of its destructiveness outlined page after page after painful page.

I am shamed that my daughter, claiming to be so enlightened and intellectual, simply ignored the challenge of reading this, and continued to label the Church as hateful and meanly discriminatory. The reason the Church has no female priests is simply because it has no authority in any tradition or scripture that authorizes that, or even implies it has authorization. The catholic Church is not an organization that is ruled by leaders who are able to tout their interpretations: It is the church Christ founded, and every tenant it teaches stems from His authority, not the power of mere rational logic that constitutes Protestant denominations. In other words, Church leaders cannot proclaim some new interpretation or even inspiration and then "pull out the remnant church" as their followers into a new denomination. The non-Catholic world fails to understand this restriction that ties it strictly to what the first Christians did & believed and the Word itself; the Catholic Church can evolve only in the manner of expression (song or dance at mass versus not; cultural differences in the mass but the essential liturgy must remain, etc. etc.). Any change must have its basis in tradition and/or scripture, otherwise those who vary from that will be guilty of trying (unsuccessfully) to violate what Christ promised at the last supper: "The gates of hell will not triumph" over His church, which from the beginning was uniformly interpreted to mean that it will be protected from teaching untruths or acting without humility (lies and over-pride are the hallmarks of Satan, who would lead people to hell if he could). Many fail to trace the history of the Church and the emergence of schisms and formation of denominations, but a careful examination of this history will show that the Catholic church is the "one true church", meaning that there is nothing in its magisterium that is untrue (not to say that all other churches are wildly full of lies, but merely to say that the original church has been protected by the Holy Spirit from lies and arrogance as an institution (lots of individuals, even priests & bishops erring, but not the institution itself). Hence, women cannot be priests because the example left by Christ was that his consecrated priests were all men and, while other ministries for women exists, humility demands that women accept this and that men do not interpret superiority from this. Personally, I do not understand why Christ would not make women more than Presbyters (ministers like nuns, etc.). But I have made myself adopt enough humility to know that He did what he did and also promoted women during his ministry; I lack and the Church lacks authority top presume to judge him and invent authority where it has not been given by the founder of the Church.

Unlike the first reviewer, I found this book to be an excellent resource for discussing the role of women in the Church today and how people of faith should respond to modern feminism. The Catholic church has, since it's inception, been an advocate for women and their rights. Donna Steichen shows how that history has been hijacked and maligned in recent history. John Paul II calls us all to a "new feminism" not based in the pursuit of power but the pursuit of holiness; this book is a good resource in that pursuit.
