From Publishers Weekly

The spewing of vitriol, epithets and wild conspiracy theories suggest a collective nervous breakdown among liberals, according to conservative commentator Malkin who, in her latest book, makes no distinction between moderate and extreme liberals; everyone left of right is a nut who suffers from PEST-Post Election Selection Trauma. This syndrome, she explains, is democratic (small d), affecting stuffed-donkey clutching college students and seasoned congressmen and journalists whose overweening diatribes and hand-wringing Malkin has seized to illustrate an emotionally charged and irrational hatred of everything conservative. Malkin scoured blogs, speeches, media commentaries and even transcripts from Oprah for material, though she misses the boat in a number of instances, most notably in her obliviousness to sarcasm and irony, and she overextends her analytical prowess by offering shallow, shoddy critiques of theater, literature and modern art. Malkin uses extremist bloggers and airheaded celebrities as exemplars of the left, cherry picking the most egregiously tasteless examples of ill-conceived commentary or inflammatory behavior to bolster her case that liberals, as a whole, have gone off their rockers. Right-wingers looking for affirmation will enjoy.

From the Inside Flap

Un.hinged
adj:affected with madness or insanity; [syn:brainsick, crazy, demented, distracted, disturbed, mad, sick, unbalanced]
The American Heritage Dictionary

Warning: Unhinged liberals are hazardous to the nation's health.

They're slashing your tires. Burning their lawns. Heaving peis at Republican pundits. Hurling racist epithets at minority conservatives. Nursing nutty conspiracy theories. And pining publicly for the murder of President Bush.

And they call us crazy?

Unhinged: Exposing Liberals Gone Wild, Michelle Malkin plays conservative Margaret Mead to the alien political creatures of the American Left. With uproarious detail and rollicking reportage, Malkin chronicles the bizarre world of leftists gone mad in their natural habitats: the mainstream media, academia, Hollywood, and Washington.

Unhinged unmasks liberals who've completely abandoned rationality and reality. They're taking chainsaws and bayonets to campaign sings. Running down political opponents with cars. Setting fire to political opponents in effigy. Defacing war memorials. Swiping yellow ribbons off cars. And supporting the fragging of American troops.

In Unhinged, you'll meet:
  • The top 10 Unhinged Leftists, Celebrities, Media Liberals, and Politicians.
  • The Pennsylvania Democrat who repeatedly screamed "faggot" at his Republican opponents on the Senate floor.
  • The Florida Democrat who tried to run down former Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris with his Cadillac.
  • The Democrat congressman who claimed the capture of Saddam Hussein was staged by GOP operatives to help Bush re-election campaign.
  • The veteran newsman who claimed that Bush adviser Karl Rove and Osama bin Laden are working hand-in-hand to help the Republican Party.
  • And hundreds more unhinged liberals gone wild.

With wit, wisdom, and a bullet-proof vest, Michelle Malkin ruthlessly and raucously skewers the myths of liberal tolerance, peace, and civility. Unhinged shows how conservatives are driving their opponents mad. the good news for liberals? Self-help starts here.

It's fascinating to read the reviews of the people who hate Michelle Malkin and her book. The problem is, none of them are able to disprove what she says. And the book has extensive footnotes and links to her sources, so if you are sceptical, do the research yourself! I worked through the first two chapters and looked many of the references so I could see for myself. The frightening thing is not her opinions, but that the examples she gives to back them up are true!!! I would rank Michelle above Ann Coulter because Michelle did such a good job of backing up her arguments. Of course, some people will judge based simply on the fact that they hate her. But it's well worth it to look up some of the references and find out first-hand what's been going on with liberals in America these days, and to discover the disturbing truth that it's not just a few nut cases who are giving others a bad name, but very much a trend among Liberals and the Democratic party.

Another informative book from Michelle Malkin. Liberals get mad as hell when you expose their lies; which is why they've tried to load this page with negative reviews without even reading the book.

Wow! Malkin has really hit the spot with this quick, but comprehensive read on how the Democrats and their fellow travellers have lost it since 9/11. By dividing the book into easily digested, topical, anecdotal accounts, she does a wonderful job of capturing how the liberal/left has shown its true colors during one of our nation's most trying times. As I read about the extremism, lies, distortions, ignorance, brutal uncivil behavior, hypocritical doublestandards, and how their "mainstreamers" cover-up or ignore the conduct, I couldn't help but be frightened. I've personally witnessed some of that behavior - it concerned me then, and really bothers me now. As you glide through the pages you can't help but conjure up scenes like the brutal "acts of repudiation" conducted by pro-government crowds against peaceful opponents of Cuba's Marxist dictatorship. It was especially sickening to read how poorly certain Iraq War Veterans were treated simply because they served in or supported the war effort.

With this book, Malkin has done us a favor by compiling the absolutely unconscionable behavior of a political movement, and its media facilitators, that daily displays why they shouldn't be given our popular trust. The book will infuriate the liberal/left (witness the poorly disguised disdain shown in the Publishers Weekly review) because it reveals them for what they are. However, it is a timely and necessary product that all common-sense driven Americans should read. Buy it, read it, cringe, then decide for yourself if it isn't a bit "scary and infuriating."

This book was inspired not only by the public statements of mainstream Democrats such as Howard Dean, Charlie Rangel, and their Hollywood cohorts such as Martin Sheen, Barbara Streisand, and so many others, but also by the personal attacks Michelle Malkin receives on a daily basis. Look at the comments on any discussion board, blog, or web based reviews open to the public and you will find vicious and obscene personal attacks on her. It is delightful that instead of blurbs on the back cover, she puts actual public comments and emails she has received (providing the real email addresses and URLs). Perfect support for her premise!

The author takes us on a tour of the popular and political culture of our times and demonstrates with simple quotes from the mainstream players in the Democrat and Progressive portions of our political spectrum how unhinged the left has become. With so many focusing on strange conspiracy theories, such as Bush being the creator of 9/11 rather than Atta and Al Queada, or the more than isolated calls for the assassination of Bush, to the fixing of the 2004 election using "mother machines" one has to wonder what's in the water they drink. Malkin has a great term for these kinds of thinkers: moonbats. I love that term.

While the right certainly has its extreme wing (you know, the people who see the Clinton's as the murderers of Vince Foster and the like), these are clearly fringe players. However, the people Malkin includes in this book are largely mainstream Democrats, Progressives, and Lefties. If you set up a balance and put in the moonbats from both the mainstream Dems and the GOP, which side do you think would tip it? I think it is not even close. The Al Frankens, Michael Moores, all of Moveon.

If the offensive and racist reviews have not been taken off....they were'nt at the time of this writting.....you can see many of the same derogatory remarks and name calling mentioned in the book. Theres another review that says even O'riely called her on things wrong with the book. I watched it...No he didn't. There even one reveiw that says they didn't read the book. If you want evidence of how true this book is then all you have to do is read the other reviews. Buy it and it will open your eyes. It is a fast and easy read.

Michelle Malkin not so much demonstrates or argues, but as her subtitle suggests, exposes the hypocrisy and immaturity of the far left's dialogue and discussions in the public square. The far left knows no lows, as many of them willingly distort facts, lie, and rage against those of whom they disagree with (namely conservatives). The left, who in the mass media, congratulate themselves on being enlightened, caring and tolerant, or shown here to be anything but - on all levels.

Since generally speaking, the far left's ideas cannot win in the public square, they often resort to dishonest tactics like professor McKenna's staged "hate crime" by way of vandalism to her vehicle (I remember this making national headlines, then when the truth was exposed, it was barely mentioned). Further, there are those who make the unfair and incorrect comparison between [...]and President Bush, or the 9/11 conspiracy "nuts."

Mrs. Malkin, surprisingly keeps the over-polemic rhetoric scaled down, but then with so much fodder, she really only lets to have people like Churchill, Diaz, Moore, and host of other radical e-mail bloggers speak for themselves. Again, Malkin mostly exposes them and provides some commentary to provide analysis on the hypocrisy and intellectual debasement of many on the far left.

Now, many may argue, and rightly so, that there are many far right wackos as well. The essential difference is that not many on the left pay attention to the far right (after all, I cannot think of one segregationist who is on the Rebuplican ticket in a major city, state, or federal board or program or in the major media outlets). The far left, however, are everywhere and their positions highlighted on morning program shows. Lastly, the ones who claim to be open and tolerant are exposed as anything but.

In addition, the book is an entertaining read.
