Writes wonderfully, but I prefer the standard Jetstream
on December 23, 2016
My go-to pen in recent years has been the Uni-ball 207 and I know I'm not alone in my preference. I have the premier version of the 207 as well, but whereas the Premier 207 has a different, jelly grip to enhance it over the standard version, I don't believe the Jetstream Premier does the same. The grip on the Jetstream Premier is a soft-touch material that feels nice, but the standard Jetstream has the same material over the entire barrel. The Jetstream Premier doesn't feel any more comfortable to hold than the standard, IMO. Plus, I can't say I'm a fan of the "air-click" mechanism. The first time I tried it, I thought it was broken. After I read the description, I realized that this was supposed to be a feature. I guess if you're trying to be sly and not make any noise, this is a nice feature, but I like the reassuring click of normal retractable pens. Perhaps if they'd muted the sound slightly, it would've been nice, but without any click whatsoever, there's no way to know if I've engaged the pen or not without looking. I also don't like how the entire clip moves, rather than just the top.
If you want a thicker version of the Jetstream, appreciate the air-click feature, and the silver color, the Premier is probably a good Jetstream for you. If you want a better grip or a better build quality over the standard Jetstream, you'll probably be disappointed. Keep in mind that the Jetstream refills work in the 207, so if you prefer the jelly grip of the Premier 207, you can buy that and use Jetstream refills.
