Top customer reviews
*Update to my review: The green ran out, but also the black within a week of my writing this past review. I actually don't mean "run out", I mean there is plenty of ink that has somehow "dried up" and it won't migrate down the bed I suppose. So I used my two ink replacements that came with the pen to replace the green and black. 4 weeks later. The black replaced ink barrel is dried up. AGAIN. It is not writing with enough ink and I am so annoyed. This pen was amazing. Why do I have to pay an additional $8 to get a full set of ink replacements when I've owned this pen for less than 6 months and already been through 2 ink barrels for the same color?! I've down-graded this star review from 5 to 3.
For my lefty buddies out there, since this is a ballpoint pen, it DOES NOT SMUDGE! HALLELUJAH! What smooth writing though. It may as well be a gel pen for how well it writes!
Credit must be given to: (i) the smooth flowing ink and easy writing experience. However, if you're somebody who applies somewhat more force when writing, it is harder to be neat; I find that I write neatest with this pen when I use less force on the paper. (ii) Also, the colors are easy to switch and I haven't had any problems with different chambers getting stuck. (iii) The mechanical pencil function, although not necessarily intuitive, is very well designed and doesn't break when excess lead is exposed but gets retracted back in the chamber. (iv) I suppose the pen is well balanced, from what I can tell. (v) Premium rubber eraser. (vi) The .5 inks seem both easy to replace and accurately described as 0.5. Very thin writing.
My problems with the pen include: (i) the grip isn't great, it's more plastic-y than soft. (ii) the pen is very lightweight, and for a product that appears to offer premium features it feels less than premium. (iii) The pen is very girthy, more than I anticipated or encountered in other multifunction pens, which gives it a weird finger feel. (iv) The mechanical pencil function seems to be very prone to breakage. The design is not like a koru toga--that means it does not rotate. This may be obvious, but for somebody who appreciates the design of the Uni-ball togas and otherwise strictly uses them, you may notice (as I have) that this lead breaks much more frequently than you're accustomed to. (v) Replacement eraser may be difficult to come by and is not included.
This pen is it.
Worth every penny.
The problem with many multicolor pens is that the body is cheaply made and it is awkward to switch colors quickly and seamlessly. This pen however is so effortless in its color switching. I don't know how to describe it but as music to my ears.
The tube is not awkwardly fat. It's a comfortable fit in the hands when writing.
The only drawback to this pen is that since four ink tubes and one pencil tube is stuffed inside, there's not much ink. The ink goes pretty quickly. Replacing the ink tube is easy, pull it out, replace with another.
