Uni-ball Signo gel ink pens are known for their smooth writing and exceptional ink quality. And, to everyone's delight, there is a sea of colors and tip sizes to choose from. Find the perfect pen for any task, whether it's writing meticulous notes, marking your calendar, or decorating your scrapbook with colorful captions. Everything about this pen, from its solid construction to its carefully-formulated ink, ensures a wonderful writing experience. The sturdy tip does not bend or break, even with heavy-handed use. The pigment-based ink flows smoothly and is waterproof, fade-resistant, and feather-resistant. Much of that is due to special viscous properties of the ink. The ink is viscous while in the barrel, but as it passes through the pen tip during writing, the viscosity drops. This results in smooth ink flow. Immediately after it hits the paper, the ink returns to its viscous state, which prevents feathering. You are left with beautiful clean lines that you can enjoy for a long time!

So why only three stars? Notice that even though I said the ink dries fast, I didn't say it doesn't smudge. That's because the ink remains quite sticky for hours after drying on many papers I've tried it on. On printer paper it's usually fine. On Rhodia and Moleskine papers, rubbing my fingers over something written over a half hour ago will produce a visual smudge. It's not a big, horrible smudge, but it is obvious. The smudging doesn't bother me on it's own; it's a little annoying for taking clean notes. The real problem however is that the stickiness makes it so that if you are drawing or writing over a page covered with marks made from this pen, your hand will actually catch and drag on the ink. It's uncomfortable and it disrupts the smooth movements I'm trying to achieve when I draw. It's a weird and unwelcome sensation to feel the edge of your palm sticking to the ink on a page as you're trying to draw a diagram. This quality makes the pens more or less worthless to me unfortunately.
These are no mere pens. These are writing tools sent straight down to earth like manna from heaven. The precision and smoothness with which the this pen writes is something to be marveled at. The ink does not bleed through the page even the slightest bit. For some unknown reason I occasionally like to write in very small letters, and at .38 mm the Uni-ball Signo DX UM-151 tickles the page with precision that the fatty Pilot G2 couldn't even dream about. I keep one of these bad boys with every notebook I own. I wouldn't call myself a pen snob, but I always get a little bit sad when I have to use a pen besides the Uni-ball Signo DX UM-151.
Go buy one right now.
Literally the best pen on earth
Other pens still exist and I occasionally have to use them
