I bought this system recently and it's my first one, I hooked up. Set up is very easy. I bought it at a retail store/mart, for the same price listed here (minus shipping and handling of course), and they only had one set.
I have to say I am impressed with the picture quality. It exceeded my expectations, especially after some of the reviews I have read.

I learned through fiddling with it, that it seems to have a better picture if you do NOT install it up high. Which gives the white out from the sun shining on grass! But you have to find some way of keeping it fairly out of rain etc at lower positions. The picture is so much better closer to the ground, hip high or waist high! I am looking at the monitor now, and can see my neighbor loading something in his trunk, the grass is green and the sky is blue with a few white clouds, the tree line on the horizon is beautiful green, his car is white, my house is white, the sun is shining and there is NO whiteout!
My other camera is pointed the SAME direction but up high and I have white out on half of the picture- sun - bouncing from the grass. I'm going to lower that camera as well.

My camera's are outside, about 20 feet from the monitor (inside). I can easily see all the way down the street where I live, at the end of the street things do look small, of course.
I can see the neighbors on either side of me and the road.
I have not moved the camera's out further because I don't have any more extension cord than does come with it. Each camera does come with an extension cord. I also haven't found anywhere, yet, to order more. I am wondering if one camera can use 2 extensions? I haven't tried that yet.

The components of this video surveillance package are sturdy and work well, but the software is the bundle's achilles heel. It only allows you to monitor one camera at a time. That means that, even if you have 4 cameras hooked up when you leave to go on vacation, only ONE can be monitored for movement. Can anyone explain to me how this is at all useful? You HAVE to switch the cameras manually, which means that you have to be at home to do so. These cameras also have sound! WHY WHY WHY did they not send that signal out through the USB connection for recording? STUPID. There is also NO setting within the program to automatically start the software upon computer startup...which means that if your power flickers while you're on vacation, your cameras (more like camerA) will go offline. You can fix that in some versions of windows, but it's a pain. This feature is like a "close" button...without it, your software is not complete!

If I could find a viable software alternative I might give this bundle another star, but probably not...this software is more than awful...it rips people off! I paid for 4 cameras to cover all 4 corners of my house, only to find that I can only use 1 of them! Inexcusable!

Worked out well using my 30 ft distance. Setup and Installation was easier than I expected to my Windows 7 PC. I knew that I could only schedule 1 camera to record in each 2 hour time block, but that is not a concern for me. I usually leave my PC on 24 hrs a day anyway - so recording to it around the clock was not an issue, This would be a great monitoring system for anyone to see who is approaching their residence too - even if they don't have a PC. The cameras and their mounts are very sturdily built.

This system is the best thing "since sliced bread" What a neat gadgets these cameras are for the money. My husband is a gadget guru and he has the system set up to record on our computers, his Iphone and the Ipad And there are alarms you can set so you can hear if the system is set off by an intruder..
And you can cycle the 2 cameras to go from camera to camera.
Wonderful system. We are thinking about getting another system for other parts of our house outside.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this system. The monitor has a miniplug output to RCA so you can connect it to a TV for a larger view or another recording device it you want to record the cameras on your own. You can also connect it to a PC (no Mac support) which allows all sorts of cool options like motion sensing alarms with recording, etc. You can select hour blocks in which the cameras will be sensing as well as one camera for each block.

The cameras connected wireless to the monitor very easily, can be mounted from above, below and to the side and must be plugged in. You can view one camera, have it cycle through cameras or have a quad view on the monitor. You can also monitor audio from the cameras.

The downside I've found is that the monitor makes an irritating little clicking sound whenever you set it to cycle through the cameras, so I leave it on either one camera or the quad view. Any motion in lower light is going to be blurry, so if someone moves quickly through the frame, identifying specifics about them will be about impossible. The cameras also kick out a lot of IR light, so objects closer than about 14 feet will be way too bright--especially if you already have existing light in the area. The cameras do have lights on them which works nice for drawing attention and, ideally, getting people to instinctively look right at the camera--at least that worked on the UPS guy the other night. You can zoom the video, but I'd say getting something detailed like a license place could be really tough.

Bottom line: It's awesome for the price and if you can dedicate a PC to it, you'll have quite a nice security system.
